Course Objectives

This optional course offers an overview of the general legal issues relating the International Organisations and a focus on specific topics of the Law of International Organisations. The selected topics concern in particular the European Union (EU) as a supranational organization and and its role in the international relations. The EU is now an important international actor and its external activity is conducted within a consolidated legal framework where EU law and International Law come across. The course is intended to provide the students the knowledge and understanding of the institutional and legal framework of the International Organisations in general and of EU in particular. Direct access to the main legal sources, including relevant treaty sources, other foreign policy instruments and case-law, as well as literature in the field, will give to the students the necessary skills usually requested by International Organisations for legal internships.
