Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to give a broad picture of corporate banking, meaning with that expression the intermediation between clients who need capital - mainly corporations but also governments and municipal agencies - and clients with capital to invest - e.g. institutional investors, funds, corporations, high net worth individuals -. Starting from the analysis of the financial needs of the firms, the course covers the ways in which investment banks but also private equity funds create value through their advisory and capital deployment activities. The first part of the course will be specifically devoted to investment banks, depicting their organizational structure and the services they offer in the security issuance, M&A, sales and trading and wealth management businesses. The second part will deal with private equity funds and will focus on LBO deals.

Written exam at the end of the course(1 hours and 30 minutes).
