Presentazione generale del corso:

In industrialised countries health care costs absorb almost 10% of GDP. In Italy, the National Health Service directly or indirectly employs about 1,000,000 people. The health care system is a major industrial sector dominated by a difficult balance between competition and regulation. Health care systems are also peculiar as they deal with a primary need (health) and fundamental ethical issues and, from a management perspective, are dominated by highly complex production processes and professional autonomy. The course is intended to expose the students to the overall perspective and conceptual tools required to manage government agencies and health care organizations. The course covers the main management functions and issues that make health care organisations peculiar. Sessions are a mixture of lectures, case presentations, analysis and discussions.
