During the seminar, students experience short face-to-face lectures exploring various aspects of communicating in the workplace, as well as discussions of the language and soft skills used in professional situations. They spend much of their time on activities, role-plays, and simulations designed to help them identify effective language choices and improve their ability to use their English to communicate in the workplace.

With the purpose of measuring the acquisition of the above-mentioned learning outcomes, the student assessment is based on two main components:
- In class participation (75% attendance and active participation required for Attending Student status).
- Final written exam (individual grade, 100% of the final grade), based on the tasks and situations explored during the seminar.
Non-attending students additionally need to demonstrate their ability to use the communications skills used by Attending Students during their participation in the seminar.

MISSION
PROGRAMMA SINTETICO / CONTENT SUMMARY
The duration of the seminar course (pass/fail for the final test) is half a semester (24 hours) and it is scheduled in the 2nd year.
Four time-slots per year are offered (two in 1st and two in 2nd semester).
The student chooses (when enrolling in his/her 2nd year) their preferred time-slot by taking into account his/her other academic activities. Double/Joint degree students who are required to spend the whole 2nd year abroad are allowed to attend the seminar course in their 1st year.
The topics covered are as follows: development of soft skills (both written and oral) in the professional environment (e.g. participating and negotiating in a variety of professional situations, creating effective business reports, cover letters etc.).

Il seminario (con test pass/fail) si svolge in metà semestre (24 ore) al secondo anno.
Sono previste 4 edizioni (due al 1° e due al 2° semestre).
Lo studente sceglie (nel periodo di iscrizione al 2° anno) il semi-semestre in funzione dei propri impegni accademici.
Possono anticipare la didattica al primo anno gli studenti dei programmi di double/joint degree che prevedono la permanenza all’estero durante tutto il secondo anno.
Il programma prevede lo sviluppo di soft skills (linguaggio orale e scritto) applicate al contesto professionale (per esempio: partecipazione e negoziazione in diverse situazioni professionali, creazione di business report efficaci, cover letter, ecc.).

Students will acquire an advanced level of knowledge of the language to be used in the business environment (proficient users).
Lo studente avrà acquisito una conoscenza di livello avanzato del linguaggio da utilizzare nell’ambiente di lavoro che consente padronanza di espressione e comprensione.

Students will be able to interact in written and oral form spontaneously, fluently and effectively in a multicultural and multilingual working environment (write complex analysis and summary documents, read and understand in detail technical and specialized documents, make oral presentations characterized by a high level of fluency and correct pronunciation; thoroughly understand the point of view of other persons and interact naturally in meetings.

La valutazione dell’apprendimento (effettuata attraverso test Bocconi) è finalizzata a valutare le writing soft skills da utilizzare in un contesto lavorativo.
È previsto unicamente un test scritto con valutazione pass/fail.
È necessario iscriversi via punto Blu.
I frequentanti possono sostenere il test subito dopo il termine del semi-semestre di didattica frequentato (test modalità frequentanti) e/o nei quattro appelli disponibili: dic/gen, feb, giu, sett (test con modalità “unica” per frequentanti e non).
I non frequentanti possono sostenere il test nei quattro appelli disponibili: dic/gen, feb, giu, sett - (test con modalità “unica” per frequentanti e non).

The assessment method (in case of Bocconi internal assessment) consists of a written test focused on writing competencies to be used in a working environment.
Students are given a pass or fail grade.
Registration via “Punto Blu” is required to sit the test.
Attending students are allowed to sit the test immediately following the attended seminar course (end of first/second part of the 1st/2nd semester – “attending students” test) and/or in four “general” sessions which are held throughout the year (Dec/Jan, Feb, Jun, Sept - in this case the test is the same for both attending and non-attending students).
