Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide students with a deep understanding of the role played by the financial market, and in particular by financial intermediaries, in the creation of new firms, in fostering the development of innovation as well as the commercialization of new business ideas. Particular attention is dedicated to the role played by venture capital.
The presentation of real-world case studies further enhances the link with the best practices observable on the market.

  • Regulatory and legal issues: regulations and supervision when investing in  non-financial firms
  • Corporate entrepreneurship
  • Selecting ideas: the relationship between firms and equity investors (business planning, screening process and company valuation)
