As part of the strategy "Europe 2020" among the key objectives of the European Commission there is the achievement of the digital single market , in which the balancing between the interests of copyright holders, consumers and intermediaries would enable the full exploitation of new technologies and endless opportunities that the digital environment offers. As part of the digital single market, the online distribution of copyright works, as a harbinger of new goods and new services, plays a fundamental role. to face such a development, it becomes necessary to identifies the legal tools that should be used to help the cultural sector. The answers that this work tries to provide are necessary now more than ever so to fill of substance the emergent concept of 'enabling framework ' that is deemed the legal tool for the pursuit of the digital single market. In doing this the book examines the interests that animate the digital distribution of copyright works, rules and policies that now shape the the phenomenon, and finally the business models that are effectively adopted by the industry.
