Junior profile in the field of public policy at the national and international level
Role in the workplace:
Graduates in International Politics and Government work as an internal resource or external collaborator, initially supporting more seniors roles, carrying out activities such as:
- analysis, design, communication, implementation and assessment of public policies;
- research on political, economic and social issues;
- stakeholder mapping, positioning, and engagement;
- lobbying;
- consulting activities for public sector entities (e.g., institutions and public utilities);
- analysis of geopolitical and regulatory risks;
- management of governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Skills associated to the role:
The main competences (in terms of knowledge and skills) acted by the graduates in International Politics and Government are:
- examining and interpreting elements of the external environment and their changes, considering the historical, legal, economic, sociological and political landscape, including with an international perspective;
- applying qualitative and quantitative analysis tools suitable to support effective policy making and management, in terms of design, implementation and assessment;
- defining and implementing the lines of action for institutional and public communication, applying the most appropriate tools and techniques;
- carrying out activities supporting political and administrative leadership (e.g., documentary research, writing reports and minutes, organizing meetings);
- soft skills such as the ability to work both in a team and independently; critical thinking; solid written and oral communication, especially with internal or external stakeholders and in multicultural contexts, also applying the appropriate negotiating strategies; flexibility and initiative; ability to take on leadership; open-mindedness to the use of digital technologies and constant awareness regarding their evolution.
