9.1.1.
Rules
Students enrolled in the first year of studies are admitted to the second year only if they have earned at least 24 credit points relating to the first year by the exam period of:
- July 2025 for students enrolled in the 2024-2025 academic year;
- July 2026 for students enrolled in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Please note that such credit points refer to the courses included in the first year study plan and they also include the credit points earned when passing each single module if applicable to the course.
At the end of the July exam period, credit points needed to move on to the second year are verified.
Students who have not fulfilled this requirement cannot take part in the September exam period and must continue their studies by enrolling as repeating students ("ripetente") in the first year of studies.
Enrolling as "ripetente" gives students the right to attend lectures but does not give them access to exams before the end of lectures for the semester in which the course is held.
Students regularly enrolled in the academic year as regular ("in corso") or repeating ("ripetente") students:
- are allocated a class group for lectures;
- are allowed to sit partial and general exams;
- are granted access to the various services offered by the University (Library, IT rooms, etc.).
There are no restrictions for enrollment after the second year of studies.
After the fifth year, students generally enroll as repeating students "fuori corso", however they may also enroll as repeating students "ripetente".

Rules on choosing elective courses/activities
When enrolling in the fifth year of studies (24 July - 25 August 2025) students must also choose elective courses for their study plan, selecting - where required - the language of instruction. They must also select, where required, the language of instruction.
During this period (24 July – 25 August 2025), students can change on Punto Blu the choices made at the time of enrollment.
Before choosing elective courses, students are asked to check the list of courses available for the academic year of reference. Course profiles and class schedules are published on the Bocconi website in the specific sections and the tables of "Incompatible courses".
In addition, when enrolling in the academic year, students can select an internship or professional development seminars as an alternative to two electives.
The above requests can be submitted only after students have completed procedures for the enrollment in the academic year by the set deadline.
Bocconi students participating in international programs can record exams passed abroad in their academic career, with reference to the fourth year study plan, thus moving the electives from the fifth to the fourth year.
When enrolling in the academic year, Bocconi students participating in an international program should choose elective courses coherent with their interests in case they have to sit for some exams at Bocconi. They will be given the opportunity to change their study plan after completing the conversion and recording if exams taken abroad in their academic careers (see Study plan change and recognition of exams passed abroad for fifth year students participating in international programs). They will also be given one last chance in the periods for all students (24 July - 25 August 2025 and 8 - 21 January 2026), they will have one additional opportunity.

9.6.4.
Electives/seminars allocation and numerical limits
After enrolling in the academic year, the allocation of first and second semester elective courses is made.
The elective course allocation is made based on the progressive position recorded at the time of the course choice / change.
Class groups for elective courses may not have more than 110 students enrolled. Students coming from foreign universities participating in international programs are not included in the above-mentioned limits.
Bocconi students participating in international programs may have exams taken at universities abroad recorded in their academic career even if these courses have attracted the maximum number of students at Bocconi, only with the aim of recording exams passed abroad in their academic career.
Students enrolled in the fifth year of studies can choose 2 seminars of 3 credit points each in place of an elective course. Each single seminar cannot have more than 60 students. Also for seminars, the allocation is made in accordance with the progressive position recorded at the time of the course choice/change.
For more information on how to choose elective courses, see "Program Structure and Educational Activities".
Students who enroll in the academic year after 25 August 2025 and in the period from 26 August to 31 December 2025 (*) can make the choice of elective courses/seminars still available on the date of enrollment in the academic year.
(*) As 31 December 2025 is holiday, the deadline is postponed to the first subsequent working day (7 January 2026).

9.6.5.
Change of study plan for fifth-year students participating in international programs
As part of the recognition procedure for exams taken abroad, the student can:
- take compulsory courses chosen by the student, which can also be recognized as non-correspondent, provided that the course has the same SSD (Settore Scientifico Disciplinare) and credits as the compulsory elective course in the program portfolio;
- take elective exams that can be recognized both with correspondence or without correspondence (up to a maximum of four courses). The elective exams without correspondence can be inserted in place of the optional courses of groups A, B and C, as long as they belong to the IUS sectors (i.e. electives with legal content). The elective exams without correspondence relating to the economic-corporate MSc programs, offered by all departments and open to the law program with a sector other than IUS (i.e. electives with legal content), can only be included in the C group.
Bocconi students participating in international programs will be given the opportunity to change the study plan a single additional time (see 'Electives allocation') upon their return, as well as in the periods provided for all students (24 July - 25 August 2025 and 8 - 21 January 2026), through the yoU@B student Diary.
Once the conversion procedure has been completed and the exams taken abroad have been recorded in the study plan, students will receive a message on their yoU@B informing them that they may change the study plan via yoU@B > Punto Blu. In addition to the change to enter the courses taken abroad in the study plan, students can also include any second semester courses to be taken at Bocconi as long as there are still places available.

Additional activities
Additional courses, i.e. those whose credits go beyond those required to earn a 5-year Integrated Master of Arts, may be selected from elective courses and language courses and can be included in the study plan for a maximum number of three, and only after all the exams for courses related to the first 3 years of studies have been passed.
In calculating the grade point average, a maximum of two exams are taken into consideration (those with the highest marks and, if the grades are the same, the course which is worth a higher number of credit points is considered).
Students can choose additional courses starting from the fifth year of studies, by completing the “Request additional courses” form available in the yoU@B diary during the periods:
- 24 July - 25 August 2025 for first-semester courses;
- 8 - 21 January 2026 for second-semester courses.
Please note that:
- allocation of elective courses entered as additional exams is subject to the limit of places available, in addition;
- elective courses as additional exams, if available, are entered after the allocation of the elective courses included in the student’s academic career as choice/change of study plan, i.e. for first semester electives from 26 August 2025 to the start of first semester lessons; for second semester electives, from 22 January 2026 to the start of second semester lessons;
- legal clinics and moot court competitions can also be entered as additional activities. In the case that students complete two activities of an internship and moot court competition, these can be entered as additional activities only.
Additional courses can be cancelled by sending a request via B in Touch > Study Plan> Additional courses. An activity recorded with a passing mark cannot be eliminated.

9.8.
Legal Clinics
Students in the regular fourth and fifth year of the program have the opportunity, after the selection process, to participate in legal clinics that offer support and guidance on legal issues in selected contexts. The legal clinics therefore allow selected students to practice real cases through pro-bono activities with the aim of:
- learning by doing, enhancing their skills, and establishing relationships with major law firms and institutions;
- raising awareness about each local resident’s social responsibility.
For the 2025-2026 year, active legal clinics include:
- PRISONERS’ RIGHTS: Bocconi Legal Desk (in Italian) located at the Bollate and San Vittore prisons, in collaboration with the University of Milan-Bicocca and the Polytechnic University of Milan. Student commitment is equal to one year of desk activity.
- RIGHTS AND VULNERABILITY: Bocconi in the San Siro neighborhood (in Italian); the University at the service of all in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Milan. Student commitment is equal to one year of desk activity.
- STARTUPS AND INNOVATION: Bocconi for Innovation (in Italian/English); support for the launch of new startups at Bocconi. Student commitment is equal to one semester of activity.
- BOCCONI IMMIGRATION LEGAL CLINIC: formerly UASU, it continues and expands the work carried out, today providing legal advice in support of all refugees (Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian). Thanks to the experience gained in recent years, the clinic staff can now develop new project areas, in continuity with the previous ones. A key position of the new activity will be that of collaboration with institutions including local area commissions and the specialized chamber of the Court of Milan. Of particular interest will be the collaboration with the other two clinics, "Rights and vulnerability" and "Prisoners’ rights", to more effectively support people seeking international protection. Student commitment is equal to one year of activity.
- WIKIMEDIA: students will be involved in legal consulting activities (specifically on the topic of online freedom of expression, copyright and online content regulations), working with a leading NGO in the defense of digital rights. Student commitment is equal to one year of desk activity.
The activity of legal clinics is not equivalent to the internship; therefore, it is not an activity that allows access to the reserved December exam session.
Students involved and admission requirements for selection
For academic year 2025-2026, students enrolled in the third, fourth and fifth regular year of the CLMG program can participate in the selection round.
Students regularly enrolled in the third and fourth year of the a.y. 2024-2025 will be admitted to round 1. The activity will take place during their fourth and fifth year for a.y. 2025-2026.
During a.y. 2025-2026, the rounds will, more or less, proceed as follows:
- I round: June 2025 – open to students in the III and IV year;
- II round: November 2025 – open to students in the IV and V year;
- III round: March/April 2026 – open to students in the IV and V year.
The following students will not be admitted:
- students selected for the Double Degree program;
- students enrolled as “fuori corso”.
The number of admitted students is decided by the program department and coordinator based on the workload required by the various clinics. A specific message with detailed information will be sent to students via the Student Diary before each round of selection.
Selection methods for each student’s evaluation includes elements related to their academic career and level of motivation at university.
The following are taken into consideration for the purposes of selection:
- the score calculated by the competent offices with an algorithm that simultaneously takes into account the weighted average of the marks (with respect to the credits) and the percentage of credits acquired at the time of selection;
- dossier presented by the student;
- individual interview with the project coordinator;
- excellent knowledge of English, which will be assessed in an interview (only for candidates at the Bocconi Startups and Innovation desk, Trade Lab and UASI).
Participating in the selection
To participate in the selections, students must submit their online application through the yoU@B Diary: Home>Punto Blu>In-Company Training/Legal Clinics>In-Company Training/Legal Clinics Applications, selecting the Legal Clinics among the activities listed, in the period indicated for the relevant round. It is possible to apply to a maximum of two legal clinics, as long as the educational objective and motivation (to be indicated in the letter attached to the application) are consistent. To complete the application, students must attach the following documents through the same procedure during the application phase, and name them as per the example: enrollment - career/enrollment - _CV/enrollment – letter:
- University career summary with passed exams (“Enrollment with Exams Self-Declaration” available for download on the yoU@B Diary)
- Motivational letter (maximum 1 page, 4,000 characters with spaces included)
- CV.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Subsequently, only the candidates selected for the individual interview with the coordinator will be sent a specific message in the yoU@B Diary.
Announcement of outcome and start of activities
At the end of the entire selection process, candidates will receive a message in their yoU@B Diary confirming their admission or non-admission to the activity. The selection outcome cannot be appealed by students.
Students admitted to the legal clinic activity will be assigned to one of the active clinics after deciding the start period with the faculty tutor, and is required to coordinate with their tutor to find out more information.
Final evaluation, recognition and academic career recording of the activity
At the conclusion of the legal clinics, students will draft a detailed report on the activity carried out, presenting it to the faculty tutor. The faculty tutor will evaluate the activity carried out and verify that the minimum compulsory attendance of 80% is met.
The final evaluation can be positive or negative (pass/fail). There is no mark out of 100.
For all students, the recognition of the activity in the study plan will occur — regardless of the program year in which the activity was carried out — in the fifth year with the recognition of 6 credits as an alternative to seminars/moot courts/electives. Legal clinics can possibly be inserted into the study plan as an additional training activity.
For annual legal clinics: if students studied abroad, they can suspend the legal clinic activity for this period and resume it upon their return to make up for the missing period (credits will be recognized only upon completion of the activity).
For semester legal clinics: students cannot carry out the legal clinic activity in the same semester they study abroad.
To record the passing of the activity in the study plan, students are required to register for the exam session via Punto Blu, according to the deadlines indicated in the exam calendar. The minutes are recorded as by official rule; the recording of eligibility will take place on the basis of activities carried out during the legal clinic, along with the evaluation of the report drawn up by the student at the end of the activity. There will be no exams. For graduating students, passing the activity must be recorded in their academic career by the deadline for the completion of the study plan as it relates to the graduation session booked. Positive participation in a legal clinic will result in the assignment of 1 point (out of 100) in determining the final graduation grade.

9.9.
Moot Court Competition
Moot Court Competitions (MCCs) prepare students for legal practice through a simulation, reproducing the process of an authentic trial in a limited period of time. Law students have the opportunity to participate in MCC activities after a selection process.
The time commitment for students is at least 3 months.
To date, the following MCCs have been approved by the School of Law, that can be recognized in the academic career:
- Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot: only open to students enrolled in the fourth year;
- Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition: open only to students enrolled in the fourth and fifth year of the program who excelled during the exam in International Law;
- Comparative Law in Action Competition (Comparative Law, Technology and Policy): open only to students enrolled in the fourth and fifth year;
- Hugo Sinzheimer Moot Court Competition (Labor Law): only open to students enrolled in the third, fourth or fifth years;
- European Law Moot Court (Key Issues in EU Law): only open to students enrolled in the third, fourth or fifth years;
- Moot Competition in Public Comparative Law (Comparative Public Law and Advanced Constitutional Law/Constitutional Justice, fourth year): open to students in the second and fourth years who have included these courses in their study plans.
- International Commercial Mediation Competition (ICC): only open to students enrolled in the fifth year. Students who participated in the 2023-2024 edition of the ICC can include the experience as an additional educational activity. Starting from the 2024-2025 a.y., the ICC may be recognized in the study plan equivalent to other Moot Court Competitions;
- Moot Court in Criminal Law, Module II: open to students enrolled in the fourth year of the program.
The activation of MCCs may be vary depending on the academic year.
Starting in the 2021-2022 a.y., successful participation in an MCC can be recognized as a separate activity and an alternative to an elective.
In addition, students who successfully participate in an MCC are eligible to be allocated 1 point out of 110 when determining the graduation grade.
Students participating in moot court competitions held in January and February can access the reserved exam session in December.
These activities are always recorded in the fifth year of the academic career regardless of the year the MCC was held.
MCCs may NOT overlap with study abroad periods.
Given that some MCCs are “in line” with semesters (both preparation and debate) and some MCCs are not “in line” with semesters as they are held over two semesters, please note that:
- for MCCs “in line” with semesters: fourth- and fifth-year students selected for a study abroad period in the 1st semester may participate in the selection process for an MCC taking place in the 2nd semester and vice versa;
- for MCCs not “in line” with semesters: fourth- and fifth-year students selected for a study abroad period may participate in the selection process for an MCC that takes place in a different academic year than the study abroad year, e.g.:
- 4th-year MCC and 5th-year exchange or
- 4th-year exchange and 5th-year MCC.
Eligible students and admission requirements for selection
Steps in the procedure, which may vary depending on the MCC:
- Presentation of moot
- Applications accepted
- Selection process and interviews
- Selection results
- Activity held
- Final assessment and recorded in the academic career
For each MCC, with the support of the School of Law office, the moot director organizes a presentation open to all students, held shortly before applications are accepted.
The number of students that can be admitted to each MCC (usually no more than 10) is defined by the director in accordance with the Coordinator.
Participation in the selection procedure
To participate in the selection process, students must submit an application online via their yoU@B Diary through B in Touch>Moot Court Competition>How can I apply to the Moot Court Competition? during the period indicated.
The procedure to follow in order to submit an application is described in B in Touch >Moot Court Competition>How can I apply to the Moot Court Competition? The following documents are required for the dossier:
- Application form (available on B in Touch)
- Summary of academic career with exams passed (“Self-declaration Enrollment with exams” downloaded from the yoU@B student diary)
- Motivational letter (max. 1 page, 4000 characters with spaces)
- Curriculum vitae/résumé.
Depending on the type of MCC, the documents must be in Italian or English. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated.
The timelines for submitting an application are as follows:
- September-October for MCCs held entirely in the second semester (preparation and debate)
- April-May for MCCs held entirely in the first semester (preparation and debate) and for MCCs that are not in line with semesters.
Selection process
For the William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot: selection is completed jointly by an external attorney and the coordinator, with the support of the School’s office. For all other MCCs, selection is completed by the course director with the approval of the coordinator (by proxy of the School Dean) and with the support of the School’s office.
The selection process is divided into two steps:
- The first step aims to assess:
- personal CV;
- academic curriculum;
- motivational letter.
- All or some of the applicants may be admitted to the second step, which includes an individual interview, during which the applicant’s level of English will be verified for international MCCs.
Only applicants selected for the individual interview with the director faculty member/coach/coordinator will be notified through a message in B in Touch.
Selection will be completed based on an overall qualitative assessment of all the elements listed above.
Communication of selection results
At the end of the selection process, candidates will receive an admission/ non-admission message in B in Touch by the deadline communicated.
The outcome of selections cannot be appealed by students. Students admitted to the activity are required to coordinate with the director faculty member or the coach for details relating to how the activity will be held. The director faculty member/coach of the MCC must draw up a program of educational activities that will be carried out by students during the months preparing for the competition, specifying a calendar of lessons/exercises.
Final evaluation of the activity, recognition and career registration
The student drafts a report of the activities performed and submits it to the director faculty member/coach (through B in Touch). Along with the coordinator, the director faculty member/coach evaluates the work performed by the student and assigns a final assessment at the end of each MCC. A grade out of 30 will not be allocated.
Acknowledgment of the activity for the student career takes place, for all students regardless of the year in which they carried out said activity, in the fifth year of the program; the activity is worth 6 credits as alternative to the seminars/legal clinics/electives.
In order to register the completion of the moot activity in the study plan, the student is required to register for the exam session through Punto Blu according to the timelines indicated on the exam calendar. The grade will be recorded automatically. Eligibility will be recorded based on the activities performed during the legal clinic and evaluation of the report written by the student at the end of the activity.
No exam is required as an integration to the activity completed. For graduating students, the completion of the moot activity must be recorded before the date set for the completion of the study plan for graduation. The MCC activity may be included in the study plan as an additional educational activity.
Starting in the 2021-2022 academic year, a second MCC can be recognized in the study plan in the following ways:

- the second MCC recorded as an additional educational activity.
The first Moot Court Competition held in chronological order will be recorded in the study plan as part of the 300 credit points in place of an elective. Therefore, the student is not allowed to choose which of the two experiences to recognize as part of the 300 credit points.

Rules
Students cannot change their program during the first year. Only after completing the first year, students can apply to change their program.
It is possible to request a change of program:
- with the same teaching language: at the end of the 1st, 2nd or 3rd years among Bachelor and Integrated Master of Arts programs;
- in case of a change in teaching language: at the end of the 1st year.
In exceptional cases, it is possible to allow a change between programs taught in different languages even at the end of the program years subsequent to the first, provided that 60 educational credits (related to compulsory or elective training activities) have not been earned in all the years of the destination degree program’s study plan.
The program year of admission is determined by the Program Director, based on the credits the student has earned.
To request a change of program, students need to have previously enrolled in the original program for the upcoming academic year (in the first year of the program as a repeating student ("ripetente") or in years following the first).
When changing from one program to another, the following applies:
- fully validatable exams with related content are considered equal;
- exams are to be integrated with a partially different program despite having the same number of credits or a higher number of credits in the destination degree program than the original one;
- any exams included in the original degree program that are not included in the program structure of the new degree program are considered to be in excess.
In addition, students are considered to have attended the lectures for courses taken in the years before the change included in the program structure of the new degree program. This means that students can register for the exams for these courses included in the program structure of the new degree program in the years before the change, starting from the first available exam session.

Students who intend to continue their studies at the Italian Military Academy and universities abroad must hand in a special application form available from the Academic Services.

Deadlines for completing the program
Students are encouraged to graduate within the official duration of the program.
The student status expires in case students do not renew enrollment for eight consecutive academic years, or in case they renew enrollment but do not pass exams/other assessments.
Any periods of “temporary interruption” of studies in accordance with Italian D.P.C.M. (Ministerial Decree) of 09/04/2001 (military service, civil service, year of birth of each child and duly certified serious and prolonged illness) are not taken into account in the calculation of the eight years.
Students whose student status has expired may obtain certificates related to the academic career pursued and credits previously acquired and may re-enroll. In that case:
- If the program is no longer offered, they may complete their studies upon transfer to an offered program.
- If the study plan has undergone major changes, an ad hoc study plan with the list of activities to be completed will be arranged, consistent with the study plan in effect at the time studies are resumed.
- Regarding exams/other assessments passed before the expiry of student status, recognition is subject to verification of non-obsolescence. The assessment of non-obsolescence is carried out by the Program Director (by delegation of the Study Program Committee) with the support of the administrative office in charge.
Students who do not want their student status to expire must submit a specific application through B in Touch > Administrative Procedures in order for their academic career to be evaluated for non-obsolescence by the Program Director.

Temporary interruption
During the academic year, students who are involved in military service or civil service duties, female students in the year of birth of each child and students who are forced to interrupt studies because of serious illness and certified prolonged medical conditions can apply to temporarily interrupt their studies in accordance with Italian DPCM 09/04/2001.
Temporary interruption of studies means that students will not be able to complete any administrative operations, participate in educational activities or make use of any university services. The years for which the student did not enroll do not count towards disqualification. For each year of temporary interruption students are required to pay a fixed sum set by the Fees Funding and Housing Office.

Concurrent enrollment in two study programs
Law no. 33 of 12/04/2022 allows enrollment in two study programs at the same time, as long as:
- the two study programs do not belong to the same field of study;
- the concurrent enrollment in the two study programs with different fields of study guarantees that at least 2/3 of the educational activities are different.
In addition, for Bocconi only:
- the two study programs are offered at two different Universities.
Because any concurrent enrollments must necessarily be communicated to the two Universities, students in this situation are encouraged to fill out the self-declaration form available in the yoU@B student diary > Concurrent Enrollment. The responsible offices will then be able to carry out the appropriate checks or contact the interested parties for further details, if necessary.
The university will collect information regarding concurrent enrollment at the beginning of each academic year.
