MSc program requirements are expressed in credit points.
A credit point is the unit of measurement which determines the workload students are required to fulfill. It is assumed that students are adequately prepared from the start to carry out the educational activities required by the degree program. The workload includes classroom activities (lectures, exercises, seminars) and individual study.
In accordance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), on average one credit point corresponds to 25 hours of work for the student; about 8 hours are spent in the classroom.
The average workload for a full-time student is set at 60 credit points per year as per agreement.
To graduate, MSc students must have acquired 120 credit points.
The credit points assigned to each individual educational activity are earned when students pass the exam or when their progress is verified in other ways required by the activity.
It should be noted that, in compliance with the educational objectives of the Master of Science programs and with the ministerial tables concerning the relating field of studies, the program structure may be subject to slight variations decided on by the competent Academic Bodies.

2.1.1.
Preparatory courses
Bocconi University offers preparatory courses held before the start of lessons. These courses are an important tool which helps students to face the subjects characterizing the first year of the Master of Science program.
As Master of Science programs are more specific than the Bachelor of Science programs and as the composition of class groups is heterogeneous, the attendance is strongly recommended because they help all students enrolled to face the commitment of the university experience. The course profiles of Master of Science programs have been therefore created by considering the basic knowledge of the undergraduate programs acquired and known.

Educational activities
The MSc program structures, with the exception of the MSc in Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA), Cyber risk strategy and governance (CYBER) and Transformative Sustainability (TS), are made up of educational activities worth credit points, which are divided in:
- compulsory course (including seminars) also interchangeable;
- activities chosen by students: electives or other educational activities (e.g. workshops or assignments);
- Enhancing Experience - curricular supplementary activities*;
- EU foreign languages;
- Internship or similar activities;
- thesis.
*All detailed information (courses on offer, procedure for choosing them, etc) on Enhancing Experience - curricular supplementary activities worth 2 CP in the second year, are available in the paragraph 2.1.2.4 Enhancing Experience - Curricular Supplementary Activities.
Regarding foreign languages, for MSc programs, English is the first language and a European Union language is the second language, with the exception of the MSc in Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA), Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance (CYBER) and Transformative Sustainability (TS), where only one foreign European Union language other than English is required.
The MSc in Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA), Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance (CYBER) and Transformative Sustainability (TS) program structure is made up of educational activities worth credit points, which are divided in:

2.1.2.1.
Compulsory courses
Every MSc program structure includes compulsory courses, relating to exams that all students are required to pass.
Compulsory courses are needed in order to satisfy program requirements and they represent the fundamental building blocks for achieving the educational objectives of the degree program.
This chapter contains a section relating to each MSc program where students can find the detailed program structure with the list of all the compulsory courses and compulsory courses that can be chosen by the student, credit point value and position in the program.
Some study plans include compulsory courses and/or curriculum that can be freely chosen. For procedure see "Curricular choices of the first year of studies".
Students can receive credit for exams concerning each compulsory course taken at universities abroad as part of the programs offered by the International Relations Service, unless courses are part of the list of not recognized exams.
Students can receive credit for exams recognized either in full or partial after the course program has been integrated according to the procedures that can be found in "Credit for Exams Passed at Universities Abroad".

Detailed courses programs (course syllabuses) are generally available online and they are also generally given out in the classrooms by faculty on the first days of lectures.

2.1.2.2.
Educational activities chosen by students
Elective courses are chosen by students in order to complete their individual study plans, as provided for by the curriculum of studies, the major chosen, from the group of courses offered by the University and/or offered in collaboration with other universities.
This chapter contains a section relating to each MSc program where students can find the detailed program structure with the number of electives required.
Elective courses are generally worth 6 credit points.
The choice of electives must be made at the start of the second year of studies for all programs with the exception of the ESS for which the choice must be made during the first year of the program. The procedure is specified in "First-Year Procedures, Rules and Administrative Deadlines".
Before choosing their electives, students should consult the 'Table of incompatible courses' and the 'Table of banned courses'.
The "Incompatible courses table" specifies the courses that cannot be chosen together in the same study plan because their course programs are either exactly or partly similar. The "Banned courses table" indicates the courses that cannot be included together in a specific MSc program.
The exams relating to electives can be taken at universities abroad as part of the programs offered by the International Relations Service. The criteria and credit approval procedure is specified in "Credit for Exams Passed at Universities Abroad".
Course profiles are available with the specification of the language of instruction of the course (Italian and/or English) at www.unibocconi.eu/courses.
Detailed course programs (course syllabuses) are available online and they are also generally given out in the classrooms by faculty on the first days of lectures.
Workshops are interdisciplinary activities. Student evaluation is exam based and marked out of 30 by the workshop professor.
In-depth studies (only for students enrolled in the ESS, DSBA e PPA MSc programs) involve students carrying out individual research on topics decided upon with the Course Director
- of a compulsory or elective provided for in the program structure and passed
- of a PhD course entered in the study plan as Higher Level Course.
Student evaluation is based on a written assignment for each in-depth study, which is marked out of 30. One in-depth study can be allocated to each course, worth a maximum of 3 credit points; in order to have an in-depth study recorded in their study plan, students must contact the secretary's office of the Department of reference of the course chosen.
Compulsory courses, recommended majors, elective selection criteria and choice groups for each MSc program are listed below.
The educational offer for the 2022-2023 academic year will include an e-learning class group for some elective courses already taught in the same semester with traditional methods.

2.1.2.3.
Higher Level Courses
Some highly-motivated and deserving MSc students (enrolled in ESS, AFC,FIN, GIO, DSBA and PPA) will be allowed to obtain academic credit from higher level courses. That is, courses held as part of the following Bocconi PhD Programs: PhD in Economics and Finance, PhD in Business Administration and Management, PhD in Social and Political Science and PhD in Statistics and Computer Science.
You can check further information on the number of courses that can be validated for ESS, AFC, FIN, GIO, DSBA and PPA in the paragraph relating to each Master of Science program structure. Further information on administrative procedures to apply and to have the PhD exams passed recognized is included in chapter "Higher Level Courses".

2.1.2.4.
Enhancing Experience - Curricular supplementary activities
Enhancing experience - Curricular supplementary activities aim to develop wide-ranging cultural knowledge and are classified as professional training activities.
Individual program structures for students enrolled in the first year of a Master of Science program, include 2 compulsory credit points dedicated to the Enhancing Experience - curricular supplementary activities in the second year of the program. These credit points are part of the 120 credit points required to complete the degree.
Exceptions:
- DSBA, CYBER and TS Master of Science programs, whose students may take part in curricular supplementary activities by recording 2 credit points earned as additional courses.
These activities are positioned in the second year of the program, however, participation in the activities may be completed in advance during the first year of the program, as long as spots are available. Curricular supplementary activities offered in the 2021-2022 a.y. have been included, for example:
- IT courses organized by IT Education Center;
- Introductory Language courses organized by the Language Center;
- Course on thesis writing;
- Workshops created in collaboration with ISPI;
- Broaden Your Frame Seminars;
- Media Experience;
- Skills and self-empowerment courses.
Detailed information on the activities offered in the 2022-2023 a.y. and the schedule will be made available in September 2022.
Choice of Activities and Assignment
Information on the choice of Enhancing Experience - Curricular Supplementary Activities and assigment is available in the paragraph 9.3 Enhancing Experience - Curricular Supplementary Activities: choice, assignment and placement in the Program Structure.
Placement of the Enhancing Experience - Curricular Supplementary Activities in the Program Structure
The two credit points that can be earned are subject to meeting the attendance requirements and passing a theory-based test (pass or fail); assessment methods will be defined ad hoc for the specific activity.
Students may record up to three curricular supplementary activities in their study plan: of these, one is placed in the academic career as part of the 120 credit points required; the other two will be additional courses.
Students enrolled in the MSc in DSBA, CYBER and TS can record up to two curricular supplementary activities as additional courses.
Please note that any additional curricular supplementary activities may be placed in the individual study plan in addition to (and not as an alternative to) other additional courses. Any additional Enhancing Experience Activities - Curricular Supplementary Activities that were not passed will be cancelled automatically shortly before graduation.
The 2 credit points earned for each activity:
- are recorded in the academic career upon passing the final theory-based test;
- are not included in the calculation of the GPA;
- are not included for the purposes of Bocconi rankings for exchange programs (Exchange, CEMS);
- are valid for ISU Bocconi scholarship rankings.

Educational objectives
The Master of Science in Management has the following educational objectives:
- provide advanced preparation in the main business areas: business management, marketing, corporate finance, labor management, strategy, for a complete, coherent management of companies;
- develop the skills to complete the competences to have a general view of the company and its competitive strategy, with reference to different companies in terms of size, goals, legal subject, business etc.;
- complete your business preparation providing competences in subjects as economics, quantitative and juridical, so as to develop problem analysis skills in interdisciplinary areas;
- develop behavioral skills via ad hoc seminars and via in / out of class activities related to courses, namely skills in communication, in interaction, in addressing complex issues;
- promote fluency in English to work effectively and efficiently; proficiency in a second EU language (in the English version of the MSc: Italian for non-Italian native speakers). Finally, to foster a wide-ranging culture to develop critical thinking and to delve into cutting-edge topics.

Description of the educational path
The Master of Science in Management program is taught in Italian and English; students who choose the Italian program must have at least one exam in English included in their study plan.
The first part of the study plan includes mandatory courses as well as seminars to develop behavioral skills.
The second part of the study plan includes mandatory educational activities of the student’s chosen curriculum (management or organization and human resource management).
The third part includes educational activities chosen by the student which can focus on specific subject areas such as: organizational change and consulting; fashion, luxury and made in Italy; entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises; corporate finance; green management and sustainability. It is possible to draw from the Bocconi curriculum as well as that of other universities (mostly foreign). There are also seminars and other educational activities aimed at fostering a wide-ranging culture.
In addition, the mandatory educational activities include:
- 3-month work experience (internship or similar activity);
- two EU languages: English as a first language for all students; the second language must be different from their native language (Italian is mandatory in the English version of the program for students who are not native Italian speakers);
- the thesis, which significantly characterizes the educational track.
Experience abroad, from one semester to one year, is encouraged (Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Double Degree Programs).

2.2.4.
Program structure for students initially enrolled starting from the 2020-2021 a.y.
The program structure of the M program comprises educational activities for a total of 120 credit points.
The M program structure is structured in two curricula:
- Curriculum Percorsi di Management (Majors of Management) (taught in English and Italian);
- Curriculum Organizzazione e gestione delle risorse umane (Organization and Human Resource Management) (held in Italian only).
Students enrolled in the English class group who wish to continue the educational path with the curriculum Organizzazione e gestione delle risorse umane (Organization and Human Resource Management) must send a request to move to the class group in Italian through B in Touch in Study Plan topic. To request this change you must have one of the language prerequisites recognized as valid for being enrolled in a program taught in Italian.
During the first year of studies, in the period 10-23 January 2023 students are required to choose between the two curricula.
Upon enrollment in the second year, via Punto Blu, students choose the related major and electives.
Students who wish to change the first year curriculum choice must sit all compulsory exams required for the new curriculum. In this case curriculum compulsory courses previously taken and passed can be recognized only as additional courses.

The Master of Science in International Management is taught in English.

Free track
The 24 credit points concerning the educational activities chosen by students are divided into 4 courses freely chosen by the student from among the electives of MSc programs. It is also specified that 12 out of 24 credit points relating to the courses chosen must be referring to one or two of these subject groups: Theory and principles of management (SECS-P/07), Corporate management (SECS-P/08), Organization theory (SECS-P/10). Please note that the free track is subject to review by the Program Director, who will assess its consistency with the program; the actual assignment of elective courses therefore depends on the official approval issued by the MSc Program Director or his/her delegate to Academic Services.

2.4.7.
International opportunities
Some opportunities to study abroad such as Exchange programs lasting a semester and Double Degree programs are offered.
Double Degree programs are addressed to a selected group of students who have excelled in their studies and have adequate language skills.
Students who are admitted can study one year in Italy and one year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.

2.5.1.
Educational objectives
The Master of Science in Accounting, Corporate finance and control has the following educational objectives:
- provide advanced studies to allow a complete understanding of accounting and financial statements, corporate finance and planning, and managerial accounting;
- develop the skills and competence in management in order to discuss and interact with managers in different business sectors, with financial markets and with company and tax law professionals;
- complete the preparation in the business field providing competences in economics, quantitative and juridical, so as to develop problem analysis skills in interdisciplinary areas;
- develop behavioral skills via ad hoc seminars and via in / out of class activities related to courses, namely skills in communication, in interaction, in addressing complex issues;
- promote fluency in English to work effectively and efficiently; proficiency in a second EU language (in the English version of the MSc: Italian for non-Italian native speakers). Finally, to foster a wide-ranging culture to develop critical thinking and to delve into cutting-edge topics.

The main career opportunities for Accounting, Corporate Finance and Control graduates are described below.
Management, finance and management control expert
Role in a work setting:Graduates write and analyze the main business reports, in particular reports for internal communication (management reporting) and reports for external communication (financial statements). They also manage the most important management control and planning, manage the company’s financial management, assess business investments, manage leading administrative processes and complete auditing activities. When carrying out their functions, graduates collaborate with the most important managers of divisions and functions, as well as top management. Skills associated with the role:Graduates possess qualified knowledge in the field of accounting and financial statements and related regulations, management control and planning, corporate finance and corporate governance. Expert in corporate restructuring and corporate financial advisory
Role in a work setting:Graduates work on corporate restructuring processes (redesign of processes, review of information systems, designing management control and planning systems and external and internal reporting), develop business plans, follow corporate financial advisory and apply corporate asset and corporate evaluation methods and instruments. They also work on evaluation and redefinition of corporate governance assets in compliance with existing legislation. Description of the educational path
The Master of Science is taught in Italian (Amministrazione Finanza aziendale e Controllo) and English (Accounting, Financial management and Control); for those attending the program in Italian at least one exam in English must be included in their study plan.
The first part of the study plan includes mandatory courses in the students’ study program as well as seminars for the development of behavioral skills.
The second part of the study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student focusing on specific subject areas, e.g. accounting and accounting systems, financial management, planning and management control. Students are also encouraged to participate in company sponsored special events. It is possible to draw from the Bocconi curriculum as well as that of other universities (mostly foreign).
There are also seminars and other educational activities aimed at fostering a wide-ranging culture.
In addition, the mandatory educational activities of the second year include:
- 3-month work experience (internship or similar activity);
- two EU languages:
- English as a first language for all students; the second language must be different from their native language (Italian is mandatory in the English version of the program for students who are not native Italian speakers;
- the thesis, which significantly characterizes the educational track.
Study experiences abroad, from one semester to one year are encouraged (Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Double Degree Programs).

International opportunities
Some opportunities to study abroad such as Exchange programs lasting one semester and Double Degree programs are offered.
Double Degree programs are addressed to a selected group of students who have excelled in their studies and have good language skills.
Students who are admitted can study one year in Italy and one year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.

The Master of Science in Economia e legislazione per l'impresa [Business Administration and Law] has the following educational objectives:
- provide advanced studies in accounting, business finance, company and tax law, so as to work both in companies as well as an external professional, to solve complex problems which require corporate management and juridical competences;
- promote the development of a unitary interdisciplinary vision of mergers, acquisitions and corporate restructuring in terms of assessment, accounting and corporate governance implications;

Second year of studies
During the second year of studies students can freely create their free track by choosing 3 elective courses which correspond to the 18 credit points referring to educational activities chosen by the students; the allocation of electives is subject to the official approval of the MSc Program Director or his/her delegate to Academic Services. International opportunities
Some opportunities to study abroad such as Exchange programs lasting one semester and Double Degree programs are offered.
Double degree programs are addressed to a selected group of students who have excelled in their studies and have good language skills.
Students who are admitted can study one year in Italy and one year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.

Educational objectives
The Master of Science in Economics and Management in Arts, Culture, Media and Entertainment has the following educational objectives:
- provide a business preparation (management control, planning management, marketing, government and strategy) taking into account the different business functions in order to work in the areas of contemporary arts, cultural heritage, media, tourism, show business and fashion; and to understand the evolution in the arts and culture;
- provide a unitary understanding in the various sectors of arts, culture, the media and entertainment, especially in the choice of strategy, governance and economic character of companies belonging to the same field;
- complete the business and juridical studies providing competences in subjects as economics and quantitative and juridical, so as to develop interdisciplinary problem analysis skills;
- develop behavioral skills via ad hoc seminars and via in / out of class activities related to courses, namely skills in communication, in interaction, in addressing complex issues;
- promote fluency in English to work effectively and efficiently; proficiency in a second EU language (Italian for non-Italian native speakers). Finally, to foster a wide-ranging culture to develop critical thinking and to delve into cutting-edge topics.

Manager of artistic and cultural institutes, companies in the media and entertainment sectors
Role in a work setting:Graduates work on all activities related to the management and development of institutions and companies working in the creative industries. In particular, they work on planning and financial control of cultural and creative activities and personnel management with particular reference to coordination between artistic and administrative personnel, production of creative events such as live shows, exhibitions, cultural events, as well as the communication and marketing of such events. Graduates also work on finding public and private financial resources through the planning, implementation and evaluation of fundraising campaigns and procurement of public funding. Skills associated with the role:Graduates possess qualified knowledge of the operational methods and cost-effectiveness models of artistic and cultural institutions and the media and entertainment sectors. Their skills are related to mastery of the main company functions with particular reference to the functions that allow them to have relations with internal and external stakeholders (artists, financiers, users/clients, policy makers). In particular, skills developed for working in creative companies are related to the ability to lead and work in mixed work groups, i.e. those including professionals with different cultural backgrounds, business problem setting and problem solving skills, the ability to modernize existing production processes in cultural institutions and creative companies. Graduates work on all activities related to the analysis, formulation, implementation and assessment of cultural policies and projects for public and private institutions. In particular, graduates assess the effectiveness and the suitability of alternative policies, projects and programs, within the creative and cultural sector. Skills associated with the role:Graduates possess qualified knowledge of the economic dynamics of the creative sectors and the methods of intervention of public administration and non-profit organizations in those sectors. Description of the educational path
The Master of Science in Economics and Management in Arts, Culture, Media and Entertainment is taught in English.
The first part of the study plan includes mandatory courses in the students’ study program as well as seminars for the development of behavioral skills.
The second part of the study plan includes sectorial workshops to enhance in-depth studies in such areas as: the arts, cultural heritage, the media, show business, fashion, tourism).
The third part of the study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student. It is possible to draw from the Bocconi curriculum as well as that of other universities (mostly foreign).
In addition, the study plan includes mandatory educational activities:
- a 3-month work experience (internship or similar activity);
- two EU languages:
- English as a first language for all students; the second language must be different from their native language (Italian is mandatory for all students who are not native Italian speakers);
- the thesis, which significantly characterizes the educational track.
Study experiences from one semester (or one week Study Tour) to one year in Italy and abroad are encouraged (such as three-month and four-month exchange programs in Italian institutions; Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Double Degree).

International opportunities
Students who have excelled in their studies and have good language skills are selected for special programs.
Students who are admitted can study one year in Italy and one year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.

2.8.1.
Educational objectives
The Master of Science in Economic and social sciences has the following educational objectives:
- provide advanced studies in theoretical and applied economics, to understand key aspects of current economic and social systems necessary to carry out highly qualified professional activities in the socio-economic field;
- allow the student to personalize advanced studies in specific areas of theoretical economics (e.g. microeconomics, macroeconomics, monetary economics, development economics) aimed at pursuing the required competences or to enroll in a PhD program at national or international level or to access in roles of applied economist in companies or institutions;
- complete the economic and quantitative studies providing competences in subjects as business and juridical, so as to develop interdisciplinary problem analysis skills;
- develop competences via educational activities inside and outside the classroom which promote student-teacher interaction and interaction between the students themselves as well as complex problem analysis and problem solving skills, ability to present and discuss the results of one’s work;
- promote competence (in the business area) in the use of English and of a second EU language to work effectively and efficiently in one’s profession.

The main career opportunities for Economic and Social Sciences graduates are:
Economist
Role in a work setting:Graduates analyze the dynamics of the economy as a whole or individual industrial sectors in an integrated manner; they complete in-depth analyses of the consequences of economic policies implemented and formulate forecasts related to the consequences of planned or currently implemented economic policies. Graduates therefore support forecasting analyses and formulate intervention policy at the level of the economic system or medium and large companies. Skills associated with the role:Graduates possess qualified knowledge in the field of quantitative methods (mathematics, statistics, econometrics), combined with in-depth knowledge of several of the main areas of economic and social sciences. Graduates also possess qualified knowledge and advanced skills for understanding the functioning of national and supranational economic institutions, both public and private. They have in-depth knowledge of the ways institutional, social and economic variables interact and are able to rigorously analyze and develop economic strategies in all applicable areas. Career opportunities:Graduates will work in: national and international institutions (e.g. central banks, supervisory authorities, other central and peripheral bodies of public administration, research institutes, international and supranational bodies); medium and large companies (e.g. banks and consultancy firms). Graduates can also pursue a career in academia in the economic and social sciences (subject to a teaching qualification, which also requires a PhD program).
Applied/econometric statistician
Role in a work setting:Graduates complete in-depth statistical analyses of samples or populations and econometric analyses of time series, applying these technical skills to the various fields of investigation pertinent to the decision-making of companies or institutions. With this function, graduates interact with other professionals, offering analytical support in measuring and estimating significant variables and/or assessments of the effectiveness of policies and actions proposed or being implemented. Skills associated with the role:Graduates possess qualified knowledge in the field of quantitative methods (mathematics, statistics, econometrics), along with specialized skills in the areas of demographics, analyses of time series, microeconomics and economics. 2.8.3.
Description of the educational path
The Master of Science in Economic and Social Sciences is taught in English.
The first part of the study plan includes mandatory courses in the students’ study program as well as seminars for the development of behavioral skills.
The second part of the study plan includes courses chosen from a list of subjects: general economics, applied economics and social and quantitative subjects.
The third part of the study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student (among which subjects) which can be selected according to the professional path chosen and personal interest. It is possible to draw from the Bocconi curriculum as well as that of other universities (mostly foreign).
There are also seminars and other educational activities aimed at fostering a wide-ranging culture.
In addition, the study plan of the second year includes mandatory educational activities:
- a 3-month work experience (internship or similar);
- two EU languages:
- English as a first language for all students; the second language must be different from their native language (Italian is mandatory for students who are not native Italian speakers);
- the thesis, which significantly characterizes the educational track.
Study experiences from one semester to one year abroad are encouraged (Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Double/Joint Degree Programs).

Skills associated with the role:
Graduates possess qualified knowledge and advanced skills in managing the process of developing innovation and a broad understanding of various environments (legal, marketing, organization and management of internal processes) related to introducing innovation in various types of companies, with particular reference to technological innovation. They also possess the ability to understand critic issues in defining company policies in research and development and management of innovation projects.

International opportunities
Some opportunities to study abroad such as Exchange programs lasting one semester and Double Degree programs are offered.
Double Degree programs are addressed to a selected group of students who have excelled in their studies and have adequate language skills.
Students who are admitted can study one year in Italy and one year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.

2.10.1.
Educational objectives
The Master of Science in Economics and Management of Government and International Organizations has the following educational objectives:
- provide advanced studies on public management, analysis of public policies and their application in order to work in professional sectors, both public and private, to improve public services at international, national, and local levels;
- promote the development of a unitary vision of government methodologies of public administration and international organizations, relations management between these institutions and companies operating in their sector;
- complete your business and economics preparation providing competences in subjects as economics, quantitative and juridical, so as to develop problem analysis skills in interdisciplinary areas;
- develop behavioral skills via ad hoc seminars and via in / out of class activities related to courses, namely skills in communication, in interaction, in addressing complex issues, including through exposure to experiences and talks by important guest speakers; develop key skills for working in public institutions and international organizations;
- promote fluency in English to work effectively and efficiently; proficiency in a second EU language (Italian for non-Italian native speakers). Finally, to foster a wide-ranging culture to develop critical thinking and to delve into cutting-edge topics.

The main career opportunities for Economics and Management of Government and International Organizations graduates are:
Management expert in public administration and international institutions
Role in a work setting:
Graduates work on management activities of public bodies (local, national, international and supranational) or private organizations that have close contact with the public sector (e.g. healthcare, social services and non-profit) with particular focus on the areas of strategic planning, organization and control of human resources or management of special projects (e.g. institutional building and development). In addition, graduates work as consultants or counterparts outside public organizations and institutions within private companies, mainly large companies, working on, for instance, management of institutional affairs and relations, defining and implementing corporate social responsibility and market access strategies.
Skills associated with the role:
Graduates possess qualified knowledge and advanced skills in the field of the functioning and management specifics of public administrations and international institutions. They also have knowledge and skills regarding business management methods and administration of relations between public and private organizations, with particular reference to administration, organization and control, public finance, management of human resources and strategic planning of such institutions. Graduates contribute both to defining public policies, especially regarding activities of an economic nature (infrastructure, healthcare, public enterprises, sectoral development policies). Graduates also analyze and assess the impact and effectiveness of such policies on the dynamics of the system in which the intervention occurs (including competitive, developmental and international exposure dynamics).
Skills associated with the role:
Graduates possess qualified knowledge and advanced skills in the field of defining public interventional policies in economics and the connection between public development policies at national, European and global levels. Also, based on specific analyses, they understand how to assess the effectiveness of policies undertaken and their impact on the dynamics of the system in which the intervention occurs. They also have an in-depth understanding of the functioning of public enterprises and institutions, their features at a management level and the way in which they can influence the implementation of policies related to the public sector as such. Particular focus is placed on the specific dynamics of the sector of healthcare and social services and policy-making and evaluation of policies in this area.

2.10.3.
Description of the educational path
The Master of Science in Economics and Management of Government and International Organizations is entirely taught in English.
The first part of the study plan includes mandatory courses for all students in the study program as well as a seminar for the development of behavioral skills and key skills in the public sector and international institutions.
The second part of the study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student focusing on specific subject areas, such as, international institutions, public management, management of social enterprises and healthcare. It is possible to draw from the Bocconi curriculum as well as that of other universities (mostly foreign).
There are also seminars and other educational activities aimed at fostering a wide-ranging culture.
The second year program structure includes other mandatory educational activities:
- 3-month work experience (internship or similar activity);
- two EU languages:
- English as a first language for all students; the second language must be different from their native language (Italian is mandatory for students who are not native Italian speakers
- the thesis, which significantly characterizes the educational track
Study experiences abroad, from one semester to one year, are encouraged (Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Double Degree Programs).

Educational objectives
Data Science and Business Analytics - taught in English - provides students with the most modern techniques of computational, mathematical and statistical analysis, to analyze large data sets (so-called Big Data), to interpret and communicate results in order to influence the strategic decisions of businesses and organizations where they will work. Specifically, Data Science and Business Analytics’s qualifying goals are: 1. to provide advanced preparation in the areas of the design and management of large databases, applied and theoretical statistics to identify correlations and causations in data to make predictions 2. to complete preparation in the area of Computer Science with advanced skills that allow the statistical skills acquired to be applied in order to influence the decision-making process in public organizations and companies 3. to develop a profile able to combine solid quantitative skills with in-depth knowledge of the corporate dynamics that enable relations with corporate management to influence strategic decisions based on data analysis 4. to develop behavioral skills via ad hoc seminars and via in / out of class activities related to courses, namely skills in communication, in interaction, in addressing complex issues; to develop competencies in understanding ethical and legislative limits related to the use of largescale databases. 5. to promote (besides English, the language of the program) proficiency in another EU language (Italian compulsory for non-native Italian speakers)

The main career opportunities for Data Science and Business Analytics graduates are:
Business Data Analysis Specialist
Role in a work setting:
Graduates’ role consists in supporting: market analyses, planning, strategic choices with tasks related to analyzing data in order to produce timely information to support decision making. Examples of activities are: profiling clients, identifing emerging trends for the development of new products, monitoring consumer sentiment about the company in order to extract information within the organization or identify new business opportunities.
Graduates work in close contact with managers and clients to transform data into critical knowledge and information that can be used to inform the organization’s strategic decisions.
Skills associated with the role:
Graduates possess qualified knowledge of the use of statistical software for data analysis, including non-structured analyses, advanced data collection skills, data cleansing and database architecture, knowledge of the use of programming software and the ability to collect data through application programming interfaces (API). They also possess solid business skills related to assessing corporate strategies.
Career opportunities:
Industrial and service companies in public/private sector, especially consumer goods manufacturing firms, large retailers, consulting firms, public utilities companies.
Data Sciences Specialist
Role in a work setting:
Graduates perform tasks related to the application of statistical models to extract data properties and develop predictive models, as well as tasks related to the design of new statistical algorithms to optimize big data management and analysis.
Skills associated with the role:
Graduates possess advanced skills in the use and development of Machine Learning algorithms and stochastic processes, optimization algorithms, and models and predictive models. They also possess advanced knowledge of the use of mathematic and statistical software, programming software and database management and the ability to collect data through API.
Career opportunities:
Research offices within public/private institutions; research centers; public/private firms /insitutions, especially financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, public utilities companies.

2.11.3.
Description of the educational path
The Master of Science in Data Science and Business Analytics is taught in English.
The first part of the program structure includes compulsory courses that are common to all students in the degree program, as well as seminars on ethics and for the development of behavioral skills.
The second part of the program structure includes compulsory educational activities specific to the track chosen by the student (Business Analytics or Data Science).
The third part includes educational activities chosen by the student that may focus on specific subject areas.
Both Bocconi courses and courses at other universities (mainly international universities) can be taken.
The program structure also includes the following as compulsory educational activities:
• a work experience lasting approximately 3 months (internship or similar activity);
• one EU language: Italian for non- native Italian speakers and another EU language among those listed in the University Guide for native Italian speakers
• a thesis, significantly characterizing the educational track.
Study abroad experiences of lengths varying from three months to one year are encouraged.

The MSc in Politics and Policy Analysis (PPA)- taught in English - aims to provide advanced education in the political science disciplines and on the topics of public policy analysis, in order to allow the understanding of the complex political, economic and social dynamics of the modern world, how national and international institutions are dealing with them, and how to take actions in such contexts.
Specifically, PPA qualifying goals are:
1. to provide advanced preparation in the two major areas of Political Science (Comparative Politics and International Relations) integrated by an adequate knowledge of the role of laws and of the evolution of population dynamics in political contexts in order to allow a critical understanding of major political and policy-making issues;
2. to complete preparation with advanced quantitative skills in both theoretical and empirical methods, which will be applied to evaluate public policies, the public sector, the policy decision making process and political dynamics;
3. to develop behavioral skills via ad hoc seminars and via in / out of class activities related to courses, namely skills in communication, in interaction, in addressing complex issues; 4. to promote: fluency in English to work effectively and efficiently; proficiency in a second EU language (Italian for non- native Italian speakers). Description of the educational path
The Master of Science in Politics and Policy Analysis is taught in English.
The first part of the program structure includes compulsory courses that are common to all students in the degree program, as well as seminars for the development of behavioral skills.
The second part of the program structure includes elective activities chosen by the student that may focus on specific subject areas. Both Bocconi courses and courses at other universities (mainly international universities) can be taken.
Moreover, seminars and other activities are offered in order to foster a wide-ranging cultural education. The program structure also includes the following as compulsory educational activities:
• a work experience lasting approximately 3 months (internship or similar activity);

Skills associated with the role:Graduates possess qualified knowledge in the field of company assessment and the main operations of investment banking (issuing securities, capital, mergers and acquisitions, listing new companies), in addition to the techniques of assessing credit risk. They also possess solid skills in terms of quantitative finance and derivative instruments, and the methodologies needed to assess operations, including complex structured financial operations. Career opportunities:Graduates will work primarily in financial institutions in the Corporate or Investment Banking divisions, or in investment funds dedicated to unlisted companies or startups (private equity or venture capital funds). At times they will work in consultancy firms or finance boutiques specialized in services of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and private equity.
Quantitative finance and risk management expert
Role in a work setting:Graduates work on the structuring, sales and trading of financial instruments, including complex instruments (derivatives) or, in collaboration with more senior roles, make investment decisions within management companies. Alternatively, they can carry out roles in research and macroeconomic analysis or analysis of risk management (in collaboration, for instance, with the Chief Risk Officer in financial institutions). Skills associated with the role:Graduates possess qualified knowledge of methodologies for the assessment of financial instruments, including derivative instruments, and methodologies for assessing credit and market risks. They understand the main statistical instruments suitable for analyzing and estimating the main macroeconomic and financial variables. The Master of Science is taught in Italian (Finanza) and English (Finance); for those attending the program in Italian at least one exam in English must be included in their study plan.
The first part of the study plan includes mandatory courses in the students’ study program as well as seminars for the development of behavioral skills.
The second part of the study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student focusing on specific subject areas, e.g. management of financial and insurance institutions, investment banking, quantitative finance. It is possible to draw from the Bocconi curriculum as well as that of other universities (mostly foreign).
