Il corso ha lo scopo di fornire agli studenti gli elementi di calcolo delle probabilità e di statistica necessari per affrontare il corso obbligatorio di Statistica Avanzata per le Scienze Economiche e Sociali. (Si danno per acquisiti gli argomenti svolti in un corso di Statistica di base, quale ad esempio: Statistica - cod. 30001 - CLEAM).
- Distribuzioni notevoli (Poisson, Binomiale inversa, Geometrica, Gamma, Beta) con il calcolo dei rispettivi momenti.
- Trasformazioni di variabili aleatorie discrete e continue.
- Vettori aleatori: distribuzioni congiunte, marginali e subordinate. Trasformazioni bivariate.
- Convergenza in probabilità e in legge per successioni di variabili aleatorie.
- Campionamento da popolazione normale: legge di distribuzione della media e della

The course is meant to provide students with the elements of probability theory and statistics whose knowledge is required for the mandatory Advanced Statistics course of the Economic and Social Sciences MS program. We assume knowledge of the content of a basic undergraduate Statistics course such as, for example, Bocconi’s Statistics 30001 course.
- Common distributions (Poisson, Inverse binomial, Geometric, Gamma, Beta) andcalculation of their moments.
- Transformations of discrete and continuous random variables.
- Random vectors: joint, marginal, and conditional distributions. Bivariate transformations.
- Convergence in probability and in distributions of sequences of random variables.
- Sampling from normal populations: sampling distribution of the sample mean and variance(Student’s t distribution and Chi-squared distribution).
