Obiettivi formativi del corso

Oggetto principale del corso sono le scelte strategiche ed operative connesse alla configurazione e alla gestione dei canali distributivi, analizzate in una prospettiva dinamico-evolutiva e mediante la realizzazione di una simulazione aziendale che permette di applicare nella pratica i concetti sviluppati a livello teorico durante il corso.

Il corso è diviso in tre parti.

La prima parte illustra la struttura del settore commerciale e le funzioni da esso svolte nel contesto economico, analizzando gli output dei processi produttivi e le logiche gestionali tipiche delle imprese distributive.

La seconda parte affronta il tema della gestione dei canali distributivi trattando le problematiche relative a: architettura dei canali, gestione della multicanalità e trade marketing.

L’ultima parte del corso è dedicata all’analisi dell’evoluzione storica della distribuzione e all’esplorazione delle nuove frontiere dell’intermediazione commerciale con la trattazione delle principali tipologie di innovazioni che coinvolgono le imprese commerciali, tra cui il fenomeno delle marche commerciali.

  • Il retailing in prospettiva storica: il sistema distributivo italiano nel XX secolo.
  • L’innovazione nelle imprese commerciali.
  • La marca commerciale.

Descrizione dettagliata delle modalità d'esame

Frequentanti:
La valutazione finale si compone di due momenti d’accertamento delle conoscenze:

  • Esame finale (60%)
  • Simulazione aziendale di gruppo (40%)

L’esame finale verrà svolto in forma scritta, senza alcuna prova intermedia.
Oggetto del programma d’esame sono le lezioni, gli approfondimenti dei docenti in aula e il contenuto del libro.

Non frequentanti:
La valutazione è data esclusivamente dall’esame finale, che viene svolto in forma scritta.

Oggetto del programma d’esame è il contenuto dei due testi.

L’esame è formato sia da domande aperte sia da domande a risposta multipla. La prova d’esame per i non frequentanti è composta da un numero maggiore di domande.

Course Objectives

The course illustrates the strategic and operative choices in channel design and management. These choices are analysed in a dynamic and evolutionary perspective and by mean of an empirical business case that allows students to apply in practice the theoretical topics developed in class.

The course is divided in three parts.

In the introductory part the key elements of a distribution channel (such as protagonists and flows) as well as its main economic functions are illustrated. The retailers’ key management practices and their offer development process are discussed.

The second part focuses on channel management pointing out the main choices on: channel design, multichannel management and trade marketing.

The third part analyzes the historical evolution of distribution channels and its stages, by adopting an International perspective, and provides some insights on emerging trends. Among them current innovations in retailing and advanced retail branding.

Detailed Description of Assessment Methods

Attending

The final grade is composed of:

  • Final exam (60%)
  • Group business case (40%)

The final exam is written without partial assessment. Class lectures and the book represent the object of the exam. The exam is composed of open and multiple choices questions.

Non attending

The final grade is based on a final written exam composed of open and multiple choices questions. Object of the final exam is the book for attending students plus an additional book/set of readings. The final exam for non-attending students is composed of a greater number of questions than the attending version.
