Course Objectives


The course examines the role of innovation and technological diffusion in modern economies and then links them to the dynamics and evolution of industries and services.The course analyses the source and effects of innovation and the diffusion of new technologies; the main features of the innovative firm; the relevance of regional, sectoral and national systems of innovation; the role of public policy for R-D cooperation, support of innovation and technology diffusion. Innovation is then related to sectors. Entry of new firms, the industry life cycle and the evolution of sectors are examined.  The main factors affecting the differences in the dynamics, structure and evolution of industries are analysed.
