Il programma affronta le seguenti macro-tematiche principali in modo da consentire di raggiungere il livello B2 general (in termini di grammatica, sintassi e vocabolario) attraverso situazioni concrete e contestualizzate: Law and Order, Landmarks in Law, Crimes & Civil Wrongs, Theft, Homocide, Internationa & Human Rights Law

B2 Level - (post intermediate) general
Knowledge
Students will acquire a good level of grammar and syntax as well as a fairly wide legal vocabulary that will enable them to be independent users of English language and deal with non-familiar and quite complex legal topics.
B2 - Livello intermedio superiore general
Conoscenze
Lo studente avrà acquisito conoscenze grammaticali - sintattiche e un range lessicale legale di buon livello che consentono autonomia di espressione e comprensione anche relativamente ad argomenti non familiari e legale e di una certa complessità.
CAPACITA' DI APPLICARE CONOSCENZA E COMPRENSIONE / APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Communicate at a B2 level - (post intermediate) general English level.
Students will be able to write clear, well-structured and detailed texts with legal themes; reports, letters,emails, on complex topics, showing understanding of conventions, controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices ; to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers possible without strain for either party; to be clear and detailed when speaking and explaining view points, giving the pros and cons of various options.

Capacità di applicare conoscenze
Lo studente sarà in grado di produrre sul teme legale un testo chiaro e dettagliato; reports, letters, emails, su una gamma di argomenti, di comprendere le idee principali di testi articolati su argomenti sia concreti sia astratti. Sarà in grado di interagire con una certa scioltezza e spontaneità che rendono possibile un dialogo naturale con i parlanti nativi senza sforzo per l'interlocutore, esprimendosi in modo chiaro e articolato su molteplici argomenti e riuscirà a spiegare i pro e i contro relativi a varie opzioni.

STUDENTI FREQUNTANTI
The exam consists of 4 parts:
LISTENING: authentic text with multiple choice/ gap fill type exercises. 8 marks
READING and VOCABULARY: a text with multiple choices or gap fill type exercises. 8 marks
WRITING: students are required to write a summary of a case study. 8 marks
Duration 90 minutes. Dictionaries are not allowed
ORAL: The oral is done in pairs. Students prepare a power point presentation (max 6 slides) based on a legal topic area covered during the course. Students present, explain and discuss the subject of their chosen topic to their partner. Students demonstrate the ability to ask/answer questions with their partner regarding the presentations in addition to responding appropriately to the examiner. 7 marks
Duration 12 minutes (per couple)
A mark of 18 is the required minimum to pass the exam with at least one mark achieved in each of the four parts.
Continuous assessment Test: one mark will be awarded for each of the two tests (max two marks). These marks will only be added to the full exam if it has been passed with 18 or over, and if students have attended at least 75% of the curricular course. These extra marks will only be added to an
exam taken in either of the first two scheduled sessions after the end of the course. The test can only be sat in presence.
NON FREQUENTANTI
ALL THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SELECTED A CLASS OR ATTENDED LESS THAN A 75% OF THE TOTAL COURSE HOURS ARE CONSIDERED NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS
