The Course intends providing an overview of the main legal issues arising from the impact of information technology on all the relevant areas related to the evolution of individuals and the society, such as intellectual property rights online, software protection between copyright and patent law, digital copyright, information technologies and competition, information goods and information markets, big data, open data, data reuse, data and text-mining, and online platforms and the law.
In order to offer reliable testimonies as to how firms actually operate in the digital environment against the legal backdrop discussed in class, the course welcomes guests from international companies.
- Know the main legal issues arising from the impact of information technology on all the relevant areas related to the evolution of individuals and the society.
- Estimate the impact of technology on the regulation of intellectual property rights, software protection, digital copyright, competition, information goods and information markets, big data, open data, data reuse, data and text-mining.
- In order to offer reliable testimonies as to how firms actually operate in the digital environment against the legal backdrop discussed in class, the Course welcomes guests from international companies.

- Group assignments
The students divided in groups are required to carry out data-mining of legal texts.

Powerpoint presentations used in class, coupled with specific material for each topic covered (mainly academic papers), are the compulsory reading. They are made available on the Bboard platform.
