Mission e Programma sintetico
MISSION

PROGRAMMA SINTETICO

1. Funzioni in R, limiti, derivate e differenziali, integrazione

2. Vettori e matrici con applicazioni in Excel

6. Introduzione all'analisi media-varianza (caso di due attività rischiose)

7. Analisi media-varianza al lavoro in Excel

    Mission & Content Summary
    MISSION

The course introduces key ideas from math and real analysis and on the structure and functioning of financial markets. A portion of the classes will take place with practical hands-on Excel examples to prepare students to the type of applied and problem-solving approach of a few compulsory courses of the MSc. programme. The course has two types of audiences: 1. Students who want to review concepts already encountered before but who value having them refreshed and ready more than the time required to attend the prep-course in August. 2. Students who self-assess that they may presenting from “holes” in their background with reference to one or more of the topics/lectures listed below.

    CONTENT SUMMARY

    1. Functions on R, limits, derivatives and differentials, integration

    2. Vectors and Matrices with applications in Excel

    3. Brief review of optimization methods with applications in Excel

    4. Elementary Choice Under Uncertainty; the Preference Representation Theorem and Its Meaning (case of certainty)

    5. The Expected Utility Theorem (case of uncertainty); Measuring Risk Aversion and Its Economic Implications

    6. Introduction to Mean-Variance Analysis (case of two risky assets)

    7. Mean-Variance Analysis at Work in Excel
