  • Face-to-face lecture: these will be conducted by the professor who is assigned to the course
  • Exercises (Exercises, database, software etc.): these will be selected at the consent of the professor  from the materials available to them
  • Individual assignments: these will be assigned by the professor during the 1st and 2nd semestrs

    At the end of the 2nd Semester of the first year (May/June), students have the option of taking a written mid-term exam. This is not obligatory.

    At the end of the 1st semester of the second year there is a final written and oral exam (January). This is obligatory.


    Written exam.

    Listening: messages, announcements, surveys, radio broadcasts. Sentence and/or table completion, true/false questions, multiple choice answers, open/closed questions (30 marks).

    Reading: understanding one or more passages of a certain complexity. Sentence and/or table completion, true/false questions, multiple choice answers, open/closed questions, producing appropriate sentences (40 marks).

    Writing: writing authentic documents. Writing memos, letters or short reports according to instructions (30 marks).

    Marks are initially marked out of 100 and then converted into thirtieths.

    Oral exam
    Access to the oral exam is only possible once a student has passed the written exam (18/30).
    The oral is divided into 2 parts: presentation and discussion

    Presentation: each student gives a presentation (lasting 5-7 minutes) prepared in advance using slides and based on the topics in the course books, Cambridge Academic English Intermediate and Career Express B2. The other students must follow the speaker's presentation.

    Discussion: the candidates, in groups of 2 or 3, are asked to discuss the presentations they have selected and prepared.


    Both mid term and final year exam syllabuses are the same for attending and not attending students. Limited validity for all tests.

    Al II semestre del 1° anno, prima parte del corso (codice 20365) con al termine prova parziale, facoltativa, solo prova scritta.

    Al I semestre del 2° anno, seconda parte del corso (codice 20371) con al termine esame finale, obbligatorio, composto da prova scritta e prova orale.

    Prova scritta.

    Listening to writing: descrizioni, informazioni, opinioni espresse con una certa ampiezza, a velocità naturale e con rumore di fondo. Sintesi del passaggio ed elaborazione di un testo con contenuti attinenti ad esso (15 punti).

    Reading to writing: comprensione di uno o più passaggi di una certa complessità. Completamento di frasi e/o tabelle, risposte vero/falso, risposte in modalità multiple-choice, risposte libere, chiuse e/o aperte, produzione di frasi appropriate (15 punti).

    Prova orale.
    L'accesso alla prova orale è subordinato al superamento della prova scritta con valutazione pari o superiore a 18/30.
    E’ suddivisa in due parti: presentazione e discussione.

    Presentazione di slides basate sugli argomenti dei libri di testo (Cambridge Academic English Advanced / Keynote Advanced) per un totale di 5-7 minuti. Gli altri studenti assistono alla presentazione.

    Discussione: gli studenti discutono, in gruppo di 2 o 3 studenti, l’argomento oggetto delle proprie slides.

    Obiettivi formativi del corso

    Corso preparatorio per Business English Certificate Vantage Cambridge University ESOL Examinations.
    Il corso si rivolge a studenti con competenze linguistiche di livello B2 generale. In termini di competenza linguistica strumentale l’obiettivo finale corrisponde a quello stabilito dal Consiglio d’Europa per il livello B2-business, in base al quale lo studente è in grado di

    Comprendere diversi tipi di testi come pubblicazioni commerciali e corrispondenza.

    Redigere diversi tipi di documenti come ad esempio lettere, relazioni, proposte ed email.

    Capire e seguire un’ampia gamma di materiale orale come ad esempio interviste, discussioni e presentazioni.

    Comunicare efficacemente.

    La didattica tiene conto del fatto che l’acquisizione delle competenze linguistiche è finalizzata unicamente allo svolgimento della certificazione esterna Cambridge Business English Certificate - Vantage (B2 business).
     

    Programma sintetico del corso

    Le attività finalizzate allo sviluppo delle competenze sono contestualizzate in una prospettiva di preparazione per la certificazione esterna. È pertanto prevista un'introduzione alla tipologia della certificazione, incentrata in particolar modo su esercitazioni con tutte le quattro sezioni della certificazione.     Course Objectives

    Preparation Course for Business English Certificate Higher Cambridge University ESOL Examinations.
    The course is designed for students who already have a strong B2 level. In terms of linguistic competence, the final objective corresponds to that established by the Council of Europe for level C1. The objects for the students can be summarized in the following way

    Can deal confidently with different types of text.

    Can write a variety of different items such as memos, faxes, emails, reports and proposals.

    Can follow and understand a range of spoken materials such as conversations, interviews and discussions.

    Can communicate effectively in face-to-face situations.

    The course recognizes that the students are preparing solely for the Cambridge external certification: Business English Certificate Higher (C1 business).
     

    Course Content Summary

    Instruction focuses on preparing the students to take and pass the Cambridge English: BEC Higher. Students are introduced to the format of the certification, and all four sections of the certification are practiced.
