Sandeep Pillai is focused on studying the determinants of firm performance in early-stage industries. He uses a combination of historical methods and statistical analysis to explore the uncertainties that firms encounter in early-stage industries, the capabilities needed to overcome these uncertainties, and who can overcome them. Sandeep teaches entrepreneurship and econometrics courses for masters students and a management course for undergraduates and serves the scholarly community by reviewing journals and conferences and organizing symposia and workshops at conferences. Before embarking on his academic career, Sandeep worked as an electrical engineer for Ontario's state electrical utilities for seven years.
