2.1. Students initially enrolled in the 2009-2010 academic year

 

The Economics Faculty of Università Bocconi offers 10 MSc programs.
The University Graduate School offers 10 MSc programs:

The MSc program requirements are expressed in credit points.
A credit point is the unit of measurement which determines the workload students are required to fulfill. It is assumed that students are adequately prepared from the start to carry out the educational activities required by the degree program. The workload includes classroom activities (lessons, exercises, seminars) and individual study.

In accordance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), on average one credit point corresponds to 25 hours of work for the student; about 8 hours are spent in the classroom.

The average workload for a full-time student is set at 60 credit points per year as per agreement.

To graduate, MSc students must have acquired 120 credit points.

The credit points assigned to each individual educational activity are earned when students pass the exam or when their progress is verified in other ways required by the activity.

2.1.1. Preparatory courses

Università Bocconi offers preparatory courses held before the start of lessons. These courses are an important tool which helps students to face the subjects characterizing the first year of the Master of Science program.

As Master of Science Programs are more specific than the Bachelor Programs and as the composition of class groups is heterogeneous, the attendance is strongly recommended because they help all students enrolled to face the commitment of the university experience. The course profiles of Master of Science programs have been therefore created by considering the basic knowledge of the undergraduate programs acquired and known

2.1.2. Educational activities

 

The MSc program structures are made up of educational activities which earn credit points, they are divided in :

  • compulsory course (including seminars) also interchangeable;
  • activities chosen by students: electives or other educational activities (e.g. workshops or assignments);
  • first and second  EU foreign language;
  • Internship or similar activities;
  • thesis.

In order to be awarded the MSc Degree, for MSc Programs in the fields of Management" and "Economicsthe regulations require knowledge of 2 European Union languages, in addition to Italian (first and second language).

2.1.2.1. Compulsory courses

 

Every MSc program structure includes compulsory courses, relating  to exams that all students taking that degree must pass.

Compulsory courses are needed in order to satisfy program requirements and they represent the fundamental building blocks for achieving the educational objectives of the degree program.

This chapter contains a section concerning to each MSc program where students can find the detailed program structure with the list of all the compulsory courses and compulsory courses that can be chosen by the student, credit point value and position in the program.

Some study plans include compulsory courses and/or curriculum that can be freely chosen.For procedure see "Administrative procedures, regulations and deadlines".

Students can receive credit for exams concerning each compulsory course taken at universities abroad as part of the programs offered by the International Relations Service, unless they are part of the list of not recognized exams.
Students can receive credit for exams recognized either in full or partial after the course program has been integrated according to the procedures that can be found in Exams > Credit for exams passed at universities abroad.

These profiles are identified with the following initials:

  • CC compulsory courses of the MSc program;
  • CO compulsory courses chosen as an alternative to another compulsory course for the same MSc program.

Detailed courses programs (course syllabuses) are generally available online and  they are also generally given out in the classrooms by teachers on the first days of lessons.

2.1.2.2. Activities chosen by the students

 

Elective courses are chosen by students in order to complete their individual study plans, as provided for by the curriculum of studies, the major chosen, from  the group of courses offered by the University and/or offered in collaboration with other universities.
This chapter contains a section concerning  each MSc program where students can find the detailed program structure with the number of electives scheduled.
Elective courses are generally worth 6 credit points.

The choice of electives must be made at the start of the second year of studies for all programs with the exception of the DES-LS / ESS-LS for which the choice must be made during the first year of the course. The procedure is indicated in "Administrative procedures, regulations and deadlines > paragraph First-year procedures, rules and administrative deadlines.

Before choosing their electives students should consult the "Table of incompatible courses" and the "Table of banned courses" that can be found in the appendix.


The "Incompatible courses table" indicates the courses that cannot be chosen together in the same study plan because their course programs are either exactly or partly similar. The "Banned courses table" indicates the courses that cannot be included together in a specific MSc program.

The exams related to electives can be taken at universities abroad as part of the programs offered by the International Relations Service. The criteria and credit approval procedure is indicated in Exams > "Credit for exams passed at universities abroad".

Detailed course programs (course syllabuses) are available online and  they are also generally given out in the classrooms by teachers on the first days of lessons.

Workshops are interdisciplinary activities worth 3/6 credit points. Student evaluation is exam based and marked out of 30 by the workshop professor.

Assignments involve students carrying out individual research on topics decided upon with the Course Director of either a compulsory or an elective course included in the study plan. Student evaluation is based on the written assignment which is marked out of 30.

Compulsory courses, recommended majors, elective selection criteria and choice groups for each MSc program are listed below.

The educational offer for the 2009-2010 academic year will include an e-learning class group for some elective courses already taught in the same semester with traditional methods.

2.1.3.1. Educational objectives

The objective of the MSc in Management Program is to provide students with advanced knowledge of the main business areas: management control, marketing, finance, work organization, strategic management; advanced knowledge of the main variables in business, especially law variables, macroeconomics and quantitative analysis.The goal being to teach the multifunctional competences necessary for an integrated and coherent management of businesses.

The course is especially geared to students with an appropriate background covering the areas of business, economics and law- interested in acquiring the ability to fully understand the business world in itseconomic, juridical and social contexts.

2.1.3.2. Career opportunities

 

The main professional and work opportunities for graduates in the Master of Science in Management are:

Managers in companies working in different sectors.Graduates in Management can find work in different business areas, especially in corporate support activities in particular strategic planning and the organization and management of human resources;
Analysts in highly advanced services companies, such as business consultancy companies, especially strategic/organization consultancy companies;
Entrepreneur in companies of various sizes operating in different sectors, especially as creators of start-ups, in which the graduate in Management can put to use the knowledge and competences acquired in the MSc of Science Program..

 

As a multidisciplinary course, graduates in the Master of Science in Management acquire knowledge and comprehension abilities which will allow them to enter many professions open to specialists in such sectors as management, business ands banking

2.1.3.3. Description of the educational path

The Program structure includes compulsory course in the first year of studies, dealing with the main areas of business functions marketing, organization and human resources management, strategy and corporate policy -, plus economics, law and quantitative methods.
Moreover Behavioral skills seminars are offered in order to develop such skills as:
  • team work in order to appreciate individual differences working in a group;
  • being assertive and managing interpersonal relations efficiently;
  • public speaking and using methods and techniques in presentations efficiently; manage relations in multi-cultural contexts highlighting the diversity of views.


The second year includes educational activities chosen by the student (including courses), activities which may be focused on a specific area of specialization.Students may draft their study plan to include areas of specialization as: Project management, Management consulting, Entrepreneurship, small- and medium-size companies, Management of fashion companies, Management and sectors, Management of social-sector companies, Organization and management of human resources.

Students are allowed to draw from both Bocconi as well as other universities (chiefly foreign).

In addition, the study plan includes as compulsory educational activities:

·a 3-month work experience (internship or similar activity);

·two EU languages other than one’s mother tongue (English is compulsory for all non-native speakers of English);

·the thesis, which underscores the educational path, is carried out under the supervision of an advisor and researches a subject-area linked to the disciplines characterizing the graduate’s curriculum.

Students are encouraged to study abroad for a period of one month to one year (Campus abroad, Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Master CEMS-MIM, Double Degree Programs).

The Program is taught in Italian, but students must include in their study plan at least one exam from a course taught in English.

2.1.3.4. Program structure

The program structure of the M-LM program comprises educational activities for a total of 120 credit points.
The M-LM program structure is structured in two curricula:

  • Curriculum Percorsi di Management (Majors of Management)
  • Curriculum Organizzazione e gestione delle risorse umane (Organization and Human Resource Management)

 

During the first year of studies, in the period 7 January - 1 February 2010 students must choose between the two curricula.

Upon enrolment to the second year, via Punto Blu, students choose the related major and electives.

Students who wish to change the first year curriculum choice must sit all compulsory exams required for the new curriculum. In this case curriculum compulsory courses that have been taken and passed cannot be recognized as electives.

The student's study plan must include at least one exam for a course taught in English.This is not required for students who, by spending a semester abroad as part of the Exchange Program or Free mover semester program in countries where sitting for exams in English is not possible, pass ALL the elective courses of the second year of studies included in the program structure.

 

Some opportunities to study abroad as part of short programs (i.e. Campus Abroad) and long programs (such as Exchange programs lasting a semester and Double Degree Programs) are offered.

2.1.3.4.8. Free track of the curriculum Majors of Management - Free track of the curriculum OGRU

The 18 credit points concerning  the educational activities are divided into 3 courses freely chosen by the student from among the electives of MSc programs; the allocation of electives is subject to the official approval of the MSc Program Director or his/her delegate to the Student Administration Centre.

2.1.3.5. International opportunities

  

Some opportunities to study abroad as part of short programs (i.e. Campus Abroad) and long programs (such as Exchange programs lasting a semester and Double Degree Programs) are offered.

Double Degree Programs are addressed to a selected group of students who have excelled in their studies and have adequate language skills.

Students who are admitted can study a year in Italy and a year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science Degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.
The partner schools  for the M-LS and equivalent foreign graduate degrees are listed below:

  • Rotterdam School of Management RSM, Erasmus Universiteit: Master of Science in Business Administration;
  • Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (Hec) - Paris: Diplome in Management; 
  • Esade : Master of Science in International Management;
  • FGV, Fundacao Getulio Vargas EAESP: Master in Management;
  • Universitat St.Gallen (Hsg) - St. Gallen, Swiss: master of Arts in Banking and Finance.

Furthermore, those students who are selected on the basis of their academic performance can also obtain the CEMS-MIM (Master in International Management) awarded by the network CEMS, of which Bocconi is a member.

The Master in International Management MIM offered by CEMS (Community of European Management Schools) is an additional opportunity to make an international experience during the second year of studies of the Master of Science program. The program lasts about one academic year and its curriculum combines academic knowledge with on-the-field experience. Students are awarded a joint diploma issued by the 17 partner universities together managing the program.

2.1.4.1. Educational objectives

The educational objective of the Master of Science in International Management is to develop the managerial capabilities necessary to manage companies operating internationally. In addition to managerial knowledge, the program provides students with both cognizance and advanced competences in international economics, economics history and quantitative methods as well as more specialized knowledge in order to operate in several sectors (e.g. management consulting, fashion and design, ) or business positions (e.g. marketing, finance, international commercial law, management control, etc.).
Finally the objective of the Master of Science in International Management is to develop:

Technical skills facilitating both problem solving and strategic decision-making skills; these are concrete technical techniques, essential in putting to use real business strategies.

Interpersonal skills interpersonal and leadership skills important in every field of culture.

Research skills the course provides broad, in-depth knowledge of international markets developing the ability to carry out detailed, professional market research.The program provides the skills to handle international activities such as preparing market access strategies by identifying the competition, laws, partners, client groups, etc.

The program is geared for Italian and foreign students who have previously studied management. The ideal candidate will have an excellent academic curriculum, international experience acquired through international study programs, an entrepreneurial spirit and good relationship skills.

The Master of Science in International Management combines strategic aspects, such as strategy and business organization at an international level, including technical aspects such as the theory of economics and quantitative methods; each course is organized according to an international prospective.

The main professional and work opportunities for graduates in theMaster of Science in International Management are:

Multinational Companies: graduates in International Management can find work in large companies in many areas where international management skills are required. They are capable of working efficiently in multicultural teams. Knowledge of international functional strategies, international marketing and finance will allow them to have access to a broad range of work opportunities within the multinational company.


Consulting Company: numerous consultancy projects support the multinational companies in the management phase of their international role efficiently integrating their branch network in world context. The Master of Science in International Management prepares students to deal with cross border management projects.
Companies operating in highly symbolic markets:the program allows students to have direct experiences and gain exceptional competence in companies known worldwide.Graduates in International Management are a crucial source for companies competing in market segments characterized by a competitive advantage based on creative design and marketing; like fashion and/or designer products.
Small and Medium-size Companies: Graduates in International Management can work as Business Development Managers (responsible for business growth), Export Managers or managers abroad in one of the countries that contribute to the growth of Small and Medium-size Companies beyond national borders. They will be able to identify and select market opportunities abroad capitalizing on their importance through exporting strategies, etc.. Our graduates are educated to behave as businessmen at corporate level in foreign markets.
Research Centers and Educational Institutions: in these organizations, graduates in International Management can make considerable contributions thanks to their systemic and inter-functional knowledge of the companies.
Government agencies: the program puts great emphasis on bothapplied economics and political economics.The practical study of the role governments and supranational institutions play in world business makes our graduates preferred candidates in government agency posts.

2.1.4.3. Description of ther educational path

The first year includes compulsory courses such as economics and management dealing with international marketing, international commercial law and international economics. In addition, thanks to computer programs used in companies, students learn to use the most common quantitative methods to solve managerial problems. Most courses provide multinational company cases in order to allow students to live a real experience of company life.
In the second year the study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student (including courses).Students are allowed to draw from both Bocconi as well as other universities (chiefly foreign).
The study plan includes compulsory educational activities such as:
  • a (approximately) 3-month work experience (internship or similar activity);
  • two EU languages (Italian is compulsory for all non-native speakers of Italian);
  • the thesis, which underscores the educational path, is carried out under the supervision of an advisor and researches a subject-area linked to the disciplines characterizing the graduate’s curriculum;


Students are encouraged to study abroad for a period of one month to one year (Campus abroad, Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Master CEMS-MIM, Double Degree Programs).

Some opportunities to study abroad as part of short programs (i.e. Campus Abroad) and long programs (such as Exchange programs lasting a semester and Double Degree Programs) are offered.

Double Degree Programs are addressed to a selected group of students who have excelled in their studies and have adequate language skills.

Students who are admitted can study a year in Italy and a year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science Degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.

The educational objective of the Master of Science in Marketing Management is to develop the managerial capabilities connected to marketing, concerning the operative and strategy areas that all companies face both internationally and nationally. Specifically the objective of the course is to develop three different areas of competence:
  • Multidisciplinary theoretic knowledge:the Marketing Management program allows students to acquire the contents and theories from various fields from economics to management (including marketing, strategy and accounting) statistics, sociology, law, technology and logistics.
  • ·Competences and operative skills in marketing:by analyzing the challenges and problems that Marketing Managers must deal with, the MSc in Marketing Management gears its studies to specific issuesand techniques helping students to achieve a highly specialized approach to problem solving. The portfolio of models and techniques offered cover the key areas of this discipline: qualitative and quantitative market research, product and brand management, management of communication, services marketing, development of new products, distribution management, sales and pricing management and customer relations management.
  • Soft skills: skills that may only be learned successfully through training or hands-on learning. These skills are intellectual in nature (analysis skills, the ability to judge without prejudice, capability of drafting presentations both orally and in written form, on the spot decision-making abilities) and managerial (e.g. group work, being a leader, interpersonal relations skills, managing a project).

The first year course includes compulsory courses covering various disciplines. In addition to the specific topics of marketing such as qualitative and quantitative market research, strategic marketing, product innovation, customer behavior, retail and channel management, the study plan of the course also includes statistics, industrial organization and law.


Courses are organized so as to give students a complete background between specific competences (i.e., in specific functional areas) and generic competences (i.e., multidisciplinary competences and skills).


In the second year the study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student, said activities may be focused on a specific area of specialization, for example marketing communication, product and sales management, management of distribution channels that reflect competences and professional roles in the Marketing job market.


Students are allowed to draw from both Bocconi as well as other universities (chiefly foreign).The study plan includes compulsory educational activities:

  The Master of Science in Amministrazione Finanza e Controllo [Accounting, Corporate Finance and Control] aims to develop the competences necessary in order to create the professional qualities in accounting, finance and control of modern companies;in consideration also of the rapport they havewith their stockholders, to the efficiency with which accounting processes are handled, to the complexity of the rapport with the financial markets.
The course focuses on topics of accounting and budgeting, corporate finance and control, company finance, planning and management systems, the objective is to provide students with advanced studies, an articulated, integrated vision of the above areas and business issues.Specifically the course provides students with the administrative professional competence in its broadest sense, the skills to apply analytical methodologies and business quantitative analysis. In terms of:



  • a solid preparation and specialized knowledge of current advanced topics in the areas of administration, business finance, planning and managerial control;;
  • tools for analysis and the necessary methodologies to pinpoint and solve typical problems in the above areas;

The first year course includes compulsory courses for all students in the program, courses that aim to build competences specializing in administration, finance and control, linked to topics that will develop interpretative competences of economics.

For this reason besides courses helping to develop skills on the areas of administration, finance and control, there are courses of economics, law, quantitative methods and management .


The second year the study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student, said activities may be focused on a specific area of specialization, for example: Management and control systems, Corporate Finance, Business planning and control, auditing.
Students are allowed to draw from both Bocconi as well as other universities (chiefly foreign).

The second year study plan includes compulsory educational activities

  • a 3-month work experience (internship or similar activity)
  • two EU languages other than one’s mother tongue (English is compulsory for all non-native speakers of English);
  • the thesis, which underscores the educational path, is carried out under the supervision of an advisor and researches a subject-area linked to the disciplines characterizing the graduate’s curriculum.

Students are encouraged to study abroad for a period of one month to one year (Campus abroad, Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Double Degree Programs).

The course is taught in Italian, but students must include in their study plan at least one exam from a course taught in English.

2.1.6.5. International opportunities

   

Some opportunities to study abroad as part of short programs (i.e. Campus Abroad) and long programs (such as Exchange programs lasting a semester and Double Degree Programs) are offered.


Double degree programs are addressed to a selected group of students who have excelled in their studies and have good language skills.

Students who are admitted can study a year in Italy and a year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science Degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.

The Master of Science in Economia e management delle amministrazioni pubbliche e delle istituzioni internazionali [Economics and Management of Public Administration and International Institutions] aims to develop specific competences and skills in order to work in professional areas, both public and private, to improve the public sector internationally, nationally and locally.. The specific focus of the course is to provide an advanced preparation on public management and an analysis of policies in the public sector and their application.  Some opportunities to study abroad as part of short programs (i.e. Campus Abroad) and long programs (such as Exchange programs lasting a semester and Double Degree Programs) are offered.

Double degree programs are addressed to a selected group of students who have excelled in their studies and have good language skills.

Students who are admitted can study a year in Italy and a year abroad; at the end of the courses they will obtain both the Italian Master of Science Degree and the equivalent foreign degree awarded by the partner school.

The objective of the Master of Science in Economia e legislazione per l'impresa [Law and Business Administration] is to provide students with advanced education to prepare them for professional and business activities that require an integration between accounting, corporate finance and company and tax law.

Students acquire advanced knowledge necessary to operate in companies or consultancy of complex problem solving situations requiring integrated competences between the economic-business and law disciplines.


Students acquire:

  • The knowledge, competences and skills to deal with company management problems, with reference to administrative, financial, law and tax profiles and relations with institutions;
  • The cultural basis and the operative tools necessary for the self-employed professions and company consultancy

The professional opportunities for graduates in the Master of Science in Economia e legislazione per l’impresa [Law and Business Administration] are mainlyin activities that require interdisciplinary education in administration, finance, law and taxation.

2.1.9.3. Description of the educational path

The program includes compulsory courses and courses which concern the following areas: business economics with an in-depth study of international accounting principles and corporate governance topics; law for the study of commercial law for joint-stock companies, financial markets law and tax regulations of companies and groups; corporate finance for company assessment and individual patrimonies, extraordinary operations (mergers, contribution, splitting, etc.).Individual courses are organized paying attention to integration and organic development.They are developed to provide students with a complete interdisciplinary picture concerning the ordinary and extraordinary issues commonly deal with by companies. The solutions require competences and sensitivity which mature thanks to the integrated knowledge of company subjects and law.



In the second year the study plan includes, in addition to a compulsory course of methods and quantitative models for finance, educational activities chosen by the students, which can be focused on various topic areas of the Master of Science program.

The objective of the Master of Science in Economics and Management in Arts, Culture, Media and Entertainment is to train managers and professionals in business in order to operate in the contemporary arts, cultural heritage, media, entertainment and fashion, having solid inter-functional managerial competences and skills to understand the evolution of the arts and culture fields.

The inter-functional competences (management control, project management, human resources, marketing, government and strategy) are therefore integrated with research competences (analytical and statistics) and interpretation of the complications of the relation between different cultures, different symbolic codes, values and imagination

The objective of the program is to:

  • to provide general advanced managerial training, with specific reference to accounting and management control, project management, marketing, intellectual property rights and strategy and management of cultural institutions;
  • provide the tools for research and context analysis;
  • provide the tools to access the specific literature (sociology, anthropology and criticism) of the cultural and intercultural areas.

2.1.10.3. Description of the educational path

The Master of Science in Economics and Management in Arts, Culture, Media and Entertainment includes in the first part compulsory courses which develop accounting and control, project management, management strategy, intellectual property, historical evolution of the cultural heritage, marketing and statistics analysis.

In the second part of the program students can develop specific competences choosing from among some in-depth sectorial workshops.

The study plan includes educational activities chosen by the student. Students are allowed to draw from both Bocconi as well as other universities (chiefly foreign).

In addition, the study plan also includes the following compulsory educational activities:

  • a 3-month work experience (internship or similar activity); a work experience where students can really operate in the industrial and cultural sectors (in Italy and abroad) using their competences and making contacts for the future;
  • two EU languages (Italian is compulsory for all non-native speakers of Italian);
  • the thesis, which underscores the educational path, is carried out under the supervision of an advisor and researches a subject linked to the disciplines characterizing the graduate’s curriculum.

Students are encouraged to study in Italy (3-month and 4-month exchange programs in Italian institutions) and abroad (among which Campus Abroad, Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Double Degree Programs) for a period of one month to one year.

2.1.10.5. Agreements with Italian universities

A number of selected students from the ACME-LM program  can attend  a training period as an exchange student, giving them a qualifying experience. This is possible through an agreement between Università Bocconi and other Universities. Two types of study offered with:

  • Scuola Normale di Pisa;
  • Università IUAV di Venezia.

Students who choose the Artistic and Cultural Heritage workshop as their sector specialization have the opportunity to carry out a period of study at the Scuola Normale di Pisa.  The program replaces elective courses required by the Bocconi for the second year (for a total of 12 educational credit points).

Students who choose Artistic and Cultural Heritage, Media and Contemporary Art are offered educational paths at the Università IUAV di Venezia.    The program replaces elective courses required by the Bocconi for the second year (for a total of 12 educational credit points).

Students who would like to participate in the program offered by the Scuola Normale di Pisa must submit an application  to the MSc Program Director by 15 November of their second year.

Students who would like to participate in the program offered by the IUAV must submit an application  to the Program Director by 15 July of their first year, if they wish to enroll for first semester educational paths; and by 15 November of their second year, if they wish to enrol for second semester educational paths. As a minimum requirement, students must have passed their first year exams totalizing at least 40 educational credits on 15 July and 60 educational credits on 15 November. 

As per agreement  a maximum of 5 Bocconi students may be admitted to the exchange program.

The Master of Science in Discipline Economiche e Sociali - Economic and Social Sciences is structured to prepare students for the following professional roles:

  • Research oriented professions in international institutions; in public or private institutions or in consultancy companies; in economics publications or University, in preparation for academic careers in economics, methodological statistics, history of economics, social science and applied mathematics;in order to become a researcherin the public sector a competitive examination must be passed. In addition, the outcome is not only based onthe degree but on other qualificationssuch as career progress, exclusive merit of the candidate.

2.1.11.3. Description of the educational path

The first part of the study plan includes compulsory courses for all students, courses that aim to build specialized competences in mathematics, statistics and econometrics, institutions and competition regulations.

The second part of the study plan includes courses that can be chosen from the general economics lists, applied economics and the quantitative/social disciplines.

The third part of the study plan includes educational activities (including courses) selected according to the professional path chosen and individual interests.Students are allowed to draw from both Bocconi as well as other universities (chiefly foreign).

The second year study plan includes the following compulsory educational activities:

  • a 3-month work experience(internship or similar activity);
  • two EU languages other than one’s mother tongue (English is compulsory in the Italian version of the program, for non-native speakers of English; Italian is compulsory in the English version of the program for non-native speakers of Italian);
  • the thesis, which underscores the educational path, is carried out under the supervision of an advisor and researches a subject-area linked to the disciplines characterizing the graduate’s curriculum.

Students are encouraged to study abroad for a period of one month to one year (Campus abroad, Exchange Programs, Free-Mover Semester Programs, Double/Joint Degree Programs).

The course is taught in Italian and English, students who choose the Master of Science program in Italian must include in their study plan at least one exam referring to a course taught in English.

2.1.12.1. Educational objectives

The Master of Science in Economics and Management of Innovation and Technology is based on the premise that innovation and organizational changes are fundamental motors of competition in a modern economy. Therefore the educational objective is to provide students with analytical models, managerial tools and quantitative competences useful in initiating, managing and assessing innovative projects in entrepreneurial contexts and/or large companies; the program provides the analysis tools useful in understanding the causes and impact of innovation in companies, sectors, countries and globally.
The program concerns some macro-problems (e.g. intellectual property, problems of competition,) which are analyzed on the basis of multiple disciplines and perspectives (e.g. industrial economics, law, quantitative and statistics methods) in order to provide students and integrated, complete comprehension of complex cases which explain the various innovative performance of companies, sectors and countries.
The program is geared to both students with a background in economics and economics-business and students with a background in engineering and other related scientific fields .
