Course Objectives

The main goal of the Course is to introduce the students to the performing arts sector and to entertainment industries. The Course has an International focus and, in particular, it investigates in depth European and Northern American assets. Policies, marketing and funding of organizations and events are the main issues looked at during the Course. Students will be given the opportunity to meet the Executive Directors in charge of some of the most prestigious entertainment organizations in Italy and in Europe and they will visit some of the most important theatrical and opera venues and workshops.


Course Content Summary

The Course consists of four main parts, structured as follows:

  1. Policies for the performing arts and entertainment industries: International comparison between European and Northern American systems. (Alex Turrini and guest speakers)
  2. Marketing and funding for the performing arts and entertainment industries. (Suzanne Giraud Voss)
  3. International perspectives on performing arts and entertainment industries: guest speakers and guided tours to the main venues and workshops. (Claudia Tacchino and guest speakers)
  4. Field projects: feasibility studies based on in-depth analysis of International best practices and proposals of innovative solutions. (Anna Merlo).

Attending students:

  • Written exam on materials, course documents and personal notes (75%)
  • Field project (25%)

Non attending studentts:

Written exam on the two books (one given and one chosen).
