6021 - INGLESE 1 (I LINGUA) / ENGLISH 1 (FIRST LANGUAGE)

L'inglese e' prima lingua obbligatoria per tutti gli studenti non madrelingua inglese iscritti ad una classe impartita in lingua italiana. L'inglese e' prima lingua facoltativa per gli studenti non madrelingua inglese iscritti ad una classe impartita in lingua inglese.
Per  gli studenti iscritti ad una classe impartita in lingua italiana e' previsto il raggiungimento finale di competenze di livello B2; per gli studenti iscritti ad una classe impartita in lingua inglese, che scelgono l'inglese come prima lingua, e' previsto il raggiungimento finale di competenze di livello C1.
L'offerta didattica per la preparazione al livello finale B2 e' suddivisa in due percorsi: il Percorso 1, per gli studenti principianti e falsi principianti, che avranno un percorso piu' intensivo e il Percorso 2 per tutti gli altri studenti. Il percorso e' assegnato a ogni studente in base all'esito del test di conoscenza della lingua inglese, svolto insieme al test di selezione. Invece, l'offerta didattica per la preparazione al livello finale C1 e' unica e corrisponde al Percorso 3. In ogni caso l'insegnamento si articola in due anni.
Per tutti i corsi di laurea triennale entrambi gli anni di corso si concludono con un esame: al superamento di ognuno sono attribuiti 3 crediti e la valutazione rientra sempre nel calcolo della media dei voti.

• Understand the main points in current affairs or personal interest topics and express them clearly;
• Express himself confidently in dealing with routine problems in daily life;
• Understand texts written in everyday language;
• Produce a simple text about familiar subjects;
• Convey information, describe experiences and events and briefly explain the reasons for personal opinions.

The course is an intensive one. Correct pronunciation and basic grammar are developed from the outset. The course is based on looking at realistic situations in everyday life and using written and spoken texts which reflect these. Aspects of language and functions linked to these situations, as well as the description of syntax and sentence structures and their usage, are all part of the course. 

All aspects of language development are covered in class: speaking skills, writing, oral comprehension, grammar, pronunciation. Listening comprehension is developed via the use of short audio texts and activities also focus on equipping students with the tools necessary to produce autonomous written work.

Attendance in class together with appropriate individual study is necessary in order to consolidate knowledge of the language.

English is the compulsory first foreign language for all students who are not English mother-tongue and they are required to graduate with English at B2 exit level.
There are two programmes provided in order to assist students up to B2 level. Programme 1, for beginners and elementary level students, is more intensive than Programme 2 which is for all other students. Each student will be allocated to a programme according to the results of an entry level test in English, which is taken at the same time as the selection test. Both programmes run over two years. Each year's study ends with an exam: passing the first one gives one credit, the second one gives two credits, towards the final average for the degree course.

The aim of the first year of the course is to give the student the tools and skills so that he can:

• Follow speech at some length on a variety of both concrete and abstract subjects;
• Produce a short, clear and detailed text on a range of subjects, expressing an opinion and discussing the pros and cons of different points of view;
• Express himself clearly and in detail on subjects related to his studies;
• Discuss the pros and cons of a familiar subject;
• Interact with a certain degree of fluency and spontaneity. 

Activities aimed at developing skills are based on questions of current affairs, social and cultural issues. Group work, both written and oral, allows students to learn a language in a natural and practical way. Oral comprehension skills are developed to deal with passages of some length and complexity, actively understand them and reproduce the information heard. Students will also be involved in class discussions and debates and invited to deliver brief spoken presentations. Writing activities focus on building competence in all the main forms of standard communication. The course ends with an exam worth three credits in the final average for the degree course.

L'esame si compone di una prova scritta e di una prova orale. L'accesso alla prova orale e' subordinato al superamento della prova scritta con valutazione pari o superiore a 18/30. La validita' della prova scritta e' estesa ai tre appelli orali immediatamente successivi, dopo i quali scade. La partecipazione allo scritto con la relativa consegna dell'elaborato annulla la prova scritta eventualmente sostenuta in precedenza.
