Obiettivi formativi del corso

Il contesto competitivo in cui operano le imprese si contraddistingue da una forte tendenza dell’economia ad assumere una dimensione sovranazionale. Questo fenomeno ha comportato un progressivo incremento della tensione concorrenziale e ha prospettato per le imprese nazionali la possibilità di competere in nuovi mercati.

Il corso si focalizza sul processo di internazionalizzazione commerciale dell’impresa e fornisce uno schema concettuale utile per la formulazione di efficaci strategie di marketing nel contesto globale.

La prima sezione del corso fornisce lo schema concettuale per comprendere le opportunità della globalizzazione e le determinanti della competitività. Nella seconda sezione del corso vengono esaminati gli strumenti operativi utili per consolidare la presenza internazionale dell’impresa alla luce del posizionamento che intende perseguire.


Programma sintetico del corso
  • Lo sviluppo internazionale dell’impresa: le tendenze in atto nell’integrazione dei mercati e le determinanti di tale integrazione.
  • Modalità di concorrenza internazionale: vantaggi comparati, competitivi e sviluppo di nuove competenze.
  • L’analisi dei mercati internazionali: l’attrattività e l’accessibilità dei paesi.
  • Le possibili modalità d’ingresso nei mercati esteri: l’esportazione, l’insediamento produttivo e gli accordi di collaborazione interaziendale.
  • Le politiche di marketing strategico internazionale: il posizionamento dell’offerta.
  • Le politiche di marketing operativo internazionale: la definizione del prodotto, prezzo e comunicazione.

Descrizione dettagliata delle modalità d'esame

Per i frequentanti:

Esame in forma scritta. La prova verte sugli argomenti indicati nel programma delle lezioni, discussioni dei casi e testimonianze. La valutazione finale d’esame dipende per il 60% dall’esito della prova scritta, per il 20% dalla valutazione conseguita nel lavoro di gruppo, per il 20% dalla partecipazione attiva in aula.

Esame in forma scritta.

Course Objectives

Companies today confront an increasing array of choices regarding markets, locations for key activities, outsourcing and ownership modes, and organization and processes for managing across borders. This course provides students with the conceptual tools necessary to understand and work effectively in today’s interconnected world by developing strategic perspectives that link this changing environment, the state of the global industry, and the capabilities and position of the firm.

The goal of this subject is to provide the foundations for taking effective action in the multi-layered world of international business. The first section of the course provides frameworks for identifying and taking advantage of the opportunities presented in a dynamic global environment at the level of the country and industry. The second section of the course focuses on firm-level strategic choices regarding where to engage in which activities. The third section focuses on the challenges of integrating the multiple perspectives, functions, and interests that constitute the multinational firm.

Detailed Description of Assessment Methods

Attending students

  • Written exam (50%)

Either:

  • 2 Group assignments  (50%)  - groups of maximum 4 students
    Or
  • 1 Group Project (50%) - groups of maximum 4 students

A maximum of 2 extra points may be earned by active class participation
Assignments are on a first come, first served basis and no more than 2 groups can choose each assignment.

Non - Attending students

  • Written exam (80%)
  • An individual assignment to be discussed with  Professor Cattaneo
