Assessing and Aggregating Evidence from Non-Experimental Work in Management

Abstract

What does it take to know something in strategic management?  How do we aggregate evidence across studies when pure replications are impossible, or difficult? Here, we evaluate the modes of inference and propose a framework for the construction of knowledge in strategic management, and for careful assessment and description of what it means to know something.
